-- On May 16, 2026, Sridhar "Sri" Rangaswamy marks 30 years since he landed in Atlanta on an H1B work visa, a move that set off a career spanning government service, sixteen years at Oracle Corporation, NASA-linked technology work, nonprofit leadership and stand-up comedy performed under the stage name DrJustKidding.

A Path That Started with Clerical Work

Rangaswamy grew up in Chennai, India – then known as Madras and earned a Bachelor's degree in English Literature. His first jobs were administrative: he worked as a Lower Division Clerk in India's Ministry of Education in New Delhi and later as a data entry operator. Before moving to the United States, he also worked in information technology roles in four other countries, including a stint with IT solutions firm Grafische Informatik in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany, and a role with Wilson Cables Pte Ltd (originally established as Enamelled Wire Private Limited) in Singapore, along with time in Dublin and Sri Lanka.

Arrival in Atlanta, a Move to Orlando

Rangaswamy arrived in Atlanta on May 16, 1996, and relocated to Orlando in 1998, the city that has anchored his career and community work since. He began a Master's degree in Information Security at Colorado Technical University in 2005 a program Oracle Corporation sponsored and completed it in 2007, graduating as class topper with a 4.0 GPA.

Sixteen Years at Oracle

Rangaswamy spent sixteen years with Oracle Consulting Services, moving from database administrator to project manager and later project director. He became an Oracle Silver Partner, was selected to beta test Oracle's Service Oriented Architecture product, and chaired the membership committee of the Oracle Applications Users Group (OATUG, formerly OAUG) for two consecutive terms following his election. He also held a president-level role with the Florida Oracle Applications Users Group and spoke at Oracle OpenWorld and Collaborate.

Through Oracle and United Space Alliance, Rangaswamy contributed to technology connected with NASA rocket-launch programs at Cape Canaveral. More background on his technology career is available at sridhar-rangaswamy.com.

Consulting and Continued Study

Beyond Oracle, Rangaswamy built an independent consulting practice, SAI Super Software Solutions Inc., based in Orlando, Florida, and later took on a leadership role at Emerson within the climate-technology sector. In 2017, he taught digital forensics as an adjunct professor at Eastern Florida State College's Titusville campus. More recently, he has studied artificial intelligence at MIT.

Public Speaking, Comedy and a Federal Trademark

Rangaswamy has appeared on radio programs in South Carolina and Washington, D.C., and performed stand-up comedy at venues including Sak's Comedy Club and The Copper Rocket, as well as corporate events for Emerson Climate Technologies. Performing under the name DrJustKidding, he secured a U.S. federal trademark for the name through the United States Patent and Trademark Office and later filed a second trademark application for the associated logo. He was also a competitive chess player in India and a member of a chess federation, and served as Editor-in-Chief of Alpha Magazine after acting in, writing and directing productions in Chennai.

Founding Sai Sharan Inc.

In 2001, Rangaswamy founded Sai Sharan Inc., an organization built around the teachings of Shirdi Sai Baba. Two years later, he secured its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status without hiring a CPA or attorney, filing the paperwork himself. Through Sai Utsavs, youth programs, environmental initiatives and volunteer efforts, the organization has distributed copies of the Sai Satcharitra to local libraries and holds USPS Non-profit Marketing Mail status. More information is available at saisharan.info. Rangaswamy has also been connected to Champions! United to Beat Malaria, formerly Nothing But Nets, through the United Nations Foundation.

Civic Roles and Government Delegations

Rangaswamy has served on the City of Orlando's Families, Parks and Recreation Board and ran as a candidate for the Orange County Soil and Water Conservation District 5 board. In early 2016, the Government of India selected him as one of 24 U.S. delegates for Indiasoft, a Ministry of Commerce export-promotion program later documented in the Gazette of India. The same year, the Government of Australia sponsored his participation in a separate trade delegation through TatXPO. In Florida, he has been invited to civic events including the Apopka International Airport opening and Governor Rick Scott's inauguration ceremony.

Citizenship and Recognition

Rangaswamy became a U.S. citizen in 2006, ten years and four months after his initial arrival, and was interviewed by the Orlando Sentinel following his citizenship.

Thirty Years Later

Rangaswamy's career traces a path from a clerk's desk in New Delhi to Oracle's leadership ranks, NASA-linked technology work, nonprofit founding, government delegations and a comedy stage. His public message, shared across speaking engagements and his platforms as Sri and DrJustKidding, is summarized in three words: "You Can Do It."

Rangaswamy marks his 30-year milestone in the United States on May 16, 2026.
