The data centre builds on CLI's 22-year presence in Tamil Nadu, where it has invested more than INR 6,000 crore across seven operational assets. Since establishing International Tech Park Chennai, Taramani, the city’s first private IT business park, in 2004, CLI has expanded its presence in the state across business parks, industrial and logistics facilities, lodging and, more recently, digital infrastructure. Over the years, this growing footprint has created infrastructure and ecosystem that has enabled global MNCs and businesses across sectors to establish and expand their operations in the state, supporting employment and wider economic activity.

Mr Quaiser Parvez, CEO, India, CLI, said:
By combining our deep local investment, development and operational capabilities with the strength of our listed and private fund platforms, CLI is well-positioned to support Tamil Nadu's growth as a technology, manufacturing and digital economy hub. Our contribution extends beyond capital investment to creating the high-quality infrastructure and ecosystems that support the state’s continued development. Tamil Nadu has been integral to our journey, and we look forward to continuing to grow alongside the state and contribute to its next phase of economic development.

Mr Gauri Shankar Nagabhushanam, CEO, CLINT, said:
The unveiling of CapitaLand Data Centre Chennai 01 marks another important milestone in CLINT’s diversification into digital infrastructure. With a total planned investment of approximately INR 1,940 crore, the development reflects our conviction in the long-term growth of India’s data centre sector and is designed to meet the evolving requirements of hyperscale and enterprise customers. As we build out our data centre portfolio across India, we remain focused on developing high-quality, future-ready assets that strengthen and diversify our portfolio and deliver sustainable long-term value for our Unitholders.
Strengthening Tamil Nadu’s digital infrastructure

The development is designed to support high-density and liquid-cooled deployments and carrier-neutral connectivity. Targeting LEED Gold certification, the data centre’s sustainability features will include high-efficiency chillers, water economisation, intelligent energy and infrastructure management and solar panels.
In addition to the data centre, CLI’s diversified portfolio in Tamil Nadu comprises International Tech Park Chennai, Taramani; Industrial Facilities 1, 2 and 3 at Mahindra World City; logistics facilities Ascendas FirstSpace Oragadam 1 & 2 and Ascendas FirstSpace Periyapalam; as well as lodging properties Citadines OMR Chennai and Somerset Greenways Chennai.
