Overall, Téo maintained his lead in the series, holding a 17-point advantage over Thomas Robineau. Raphaël Sousa is currently third in the standings, with his father José in fourth.
“A lot of emotions, extremely high temperatures. It was really tough for the drivers and the trucks. But I’m sure the spectators enjoyed it—we gave them a great show. Winning the final race was very important for us. Robineau did gain a few points on Téo, but nothing serious. It’s clear this is going to be a tough battle right until the end of the season,” said Fabien Calvet, head of Buggyra Academy France.
In the opening race, Téo Calvet, who started from second on the grid, tried to challenge race leader Robineau, but the MAN driver held his ground with an aggressive drive. Téo’s efforts to overtake were ultimately thwarted by technical problems. “I had an issue with the steering. After that, I had to fight to hold onto second place because the guys behind started catching up,” said the defending champion.
Téo started the next race—run with a reversed grid—after the steering had been fixed. Battling through a crowded field of trucks, he climbed to fourth place, finishing just one second behind José Sousa. “It was a tough race. I overtook several rivals right at the start. I was battling the heat the whole time—the truck really suffered in those conditions. Fourth-place points are still a good result,” said the French driver.
Sunday’s programme began once again with the higher-scoring main race. In it, spectators enjoyed a string of fierce duels between the Academy’s own drivers. Téo Calvet eventually secured second place ahead of Raphaël and José Sousa. “I had great pace. It’s a shame I got stuck behind Raph for too long—he was holding me up a bit—but it was a really good battle. Then he made a mistake and I was able to get past. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to attack the leader Robineau,” Téo said of the dramatic race.
The Buggyra Academy France’s home event ended in the best possible way, with Téo Calvet dominating the final race of the weekend. “He really wanted to win during his home weekend, and he did it. As I fought my way through the field, it was one great battle after another. Overall, I finished second in the Grand Prix and still lead the championship. Robineau is pushing from behind, but we’ve still got a few points in hand,” added the Buggyra Academy France star.
