The annexe was commissioned to allow a relative to live safely and comfortably on the family’s property, offering privacy alongside proximity. The design prioritised functionality and long-term use, with features intended to create a secure and welcoming home environment, while also supporting independence, accessibility, and the ability to adapt as needs change over time.
The structure was built using 95mm thick logs, chosen for their strength and insulating properties. The floor and roof were both fully insulated to support year-round use, and the building sits on a timber-framed base to provide stability and protect against ground conditions. Externally, the cabin was professionally painted to ensure durability and a neat finish.
The project was carried out using the company’s full works service, which covers groundwork, installation, painting, electrics, and finishing. This approach meant the family did not need to coordinate separate trades, and the annexe was handed over as a complete, ready-to-use space.
In addition to its residential features, the annexe was built to be mobile compliant, giving flexibility in terms of planning and potential relocation.
