To attend Hendrick Hoover Auto Mall’s award ceremony and celebrate King Kindred’s 60 years of exceptional service to the Birmingham community, the event is being held on September 23rd, from 11am to 12pm at Hendrick Hoover Auto Mall, located at 1626 Montgomery Highway.BIRMINGHAM, AL., September 16, 2015 – Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Hendrick Chevrolet in Hoover are proud to announce that they will be celebrating an incredible milestone for one of its employees this month. King Kindred, a Birmingham resident of 79 years, celebrates his 60th year working for the dealership this month. In light of this special occasion, Hendrick Hoover Auto Mall in Hoover will be rewarding this automotive veteran with his very own 2015 Chevrolet Colorado.
Born in Union Springs, AL in 1936, Kindred has worn many hats throughout his career. As a young man, he started out washing cars for the Don Drennen family of dealerships. In 1963 he was promoted into the dealership’s service department where he prepared cars for buyers. Since then he’s worked in the paint shop, driven wrecker trucks, and carried out dealer transfers. It was his promotion to New Car Service Manager that ultimately altered his commute from Ensley to Hendrick Hoover Auto Mall, where he still works today.
Joel Smith, Executive General Manager of Hendrick Hoover Auto Mall had this to say about Kindred’s momentous milestone, “I really think the greatest gift you can give an employer is a great employee. Surrounding yourself with people who are better than yourself and who commit to being better than yesterday is the gift we have received having King Kindred on our team. Thanks for all of the years of good quality work and great relationships.”
This month also marks another significant, and more personal, milestone in Kindred’s life. He and his wife, Willie Nell, celebrate their 44th wedding anniversary this month. They are the proud parents of six children—5 girls and 1 boy, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
