New York Times bestselling author J.D. Barker announces a series of upcoming releases, including solo works and high-profile collaborations.

Internationally bestselling thriller author J.D. Barker revealed an ambitious slate of upcoming releases through 2025.

Headlining the lineup is a recently released novel, "Behind a Closed Door.” This standalone book challenges readers with the chilling question: "Would you kill a total stranger to save the one you love?" It marks the first title under Barker's new partnership with Simon & Schuster, combining his creative control through Hampton Creek Press with the distribution power of a major publisher.

J.D. Barker continues to expand his collaborative efforts with "Heavy Are The Stones," co-authored with neuropsychologist Christine Daigle, set for release on November 26, 2024.

This psychological thriller follows Detective Jena Campbell as she confronts a new threat linked to her past. When an enigmatic figure calling himself Azrael orchestrates a series of deaths mirroring biblical plagues, Campbell must face the consequences of a long-buried secret.

The novel explores themes of guilt, redemption, and the psychological impact of hidden truths. “The goal is to combine suspenseful storytelling with insights from neuropsychology,” shares the thriller author.

This February 2025, readers can expect "We Don't Talk About Emma," co-authored with E.J. Findorff. The novel centers on New Orleans Detective Nikki Mayeaux, who finds herself at a moral crossroads when a serial rapist is set free due to a legal technicality.

Frustrated by the justice system's failure, Mayeaux contemplates taking matters into her own hands. However, upon arriving at the rapist's home with questionable intentions, she discovers someone has already acted - she finds the rapist dead in his car.

The story then shifts focus to the search for the killer, believed to be the rapist's final victim - a sixteen-year-old girl who has vanished in the French Quarter. The novel explores vigilante justice themes and the legal system's limitations. “I also wanted to touch on the moral ambiguities that arise when the lines between right and wrong become blurred,” shares the thriller author.

Meanwhile, March 2025 will see the release of "The Writer," another collaboration with James Patterson, continuing their successful partnership.

This upcoming work follows Detective Declan Shaw as he investigates a murder case involving crime writer Denise Morrow. The novel opens with Shaw responding to a call at the Beresford building on Central Park West, where he finds a blood-covered woman and a dead body in a luxurious apartment filled with books by Denise Morrow. As Shaw solves the case, he must unravel whether Morrow is the victim or the killer.

Furthermore, Barker will also contribute to the "Flatliners" franchise with "Flatliners: Resurrection," adding his touch to this established cult classic. This novel will reboot the iconic franchise based on the original screenplay by Peter Filardi. Here, J.D. Barker will explore the concept of near-death experiences while putting a fresh twist on the original story.

This project aligns with the growing trend of authors adapting popular film properties into novels. While specific plot details are yet to be revealed, fans of the original films and J.D. Barker's work can anticipate a fresh take on the franchise, potentially making way for future adaptations across various media.

"I love telling stories that make readers think and keep them on the edge of their seats," says J.D. Barker. "With these new books, I am trying new things and mixing up different types of thrillers. I cannot wait to share them with my readers and see how they react."
