Bel Marra Health Weighs in On New Initiative to Combat Hypertension

Bel Marra Health comments on a new project that hopes to improve treatment of hypertension.

Bel Marra Health (, a company that offers high-quality, specially formulated vitamins and nutritional supplements, is weighing in on a new initiative to combat hypertension.

A new initiative has been launched by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) called the Global Standardized Hypertension Treatment (GSHT) Project. The goals of the project include administering a treatment that can be taken once per day and being able to administer the treatment in the form of a single pill. “Some people hear the phrase ‘high blood pressure’ and feel it’s something they can deal with lightly, but that is so far from the truth,” says Dr. Victor Marchione, spokesperson for Bel Marra Health. “With so many Americans suffering from this sickness, doctors need to keep encouraging patients to take the necessary steps to get their condition under control.”

But the GSHT Project is not all about the medication; it also aims to track the blood levels of all those afflicted with hypertension and provide individual care to help these patients combat their high blood pressure. The GSHT Project also aims to lower costs, as states which take part will see reduced costs for the treatment and, it is hoped, a simplification of the refills.

Hypertension has been known to cause heart attacks and strokes and reduce blood flow to the brain, which can cause issues with memory and other symptoms. Those with hypertension worsen their condition by smoking, being overweight, and increasing their stress levels.

“Hypertension is something that can definitely be prevented,” Dr. Marchione concludes. “Poor diet is another contributor to this disease, so society really needs to improve on the factors that can be controlled, such as diet and exercise.”
