On Saturday June 6th, Manning Sumner will offer a special discounted bootcamp class at his Legacy Fit gym with all the proceeds going to the local foundation Save The Strays.

Manning Sumner, owner of Legacy Fit, has always believed that living a healthy lifestyle meant engaging the spirit as well as the body, and on Saturday, June 6th, he has created an opportunity for the people of Miami to do just that. He has partnered with a local foundation for the event “Sweat for the Strays.” That day, he will be offering a discounted admission for the 10am fitness bootcamp class that will be open to the public. Along with free parking, bottled water and raffle prizes, all the money raised by the admission will go to the local non-profit Save The Strays.

'Save The Strays' Foundation provides funding for veterinary care, home placement, and community education on animal welfare,” foundation founder Caroline Saiz said in a recent statement announcing the upcoming event with Legacy Fit. “We also provide assistance and financial support to organizations that rescue stray animals.”

As a purely non-profit organization, the volunteers that dedicate their time are constantly on the lookout for ways to bring their message to more people who may not be aware of the alternative they provide for people looking for pets. By partnering with one of the most popular fitness centers in Miami, they are giving people a chance to help these animals, as well as help themselves to a healthier lifestyle.

The partnership made sense not only because of the popularity, but also the philosophy that helped lead to the gym’s founding six years ago. “We work with everybody regardless of what level of physical activity you might be used to,” said Sumner when asked recently what sets his fitness center apart from other bootcamps in Miami. “At Legacy Fit, all fitness levels are welcomed and encouraged to experience a new era in fitness.”

Popularity for this special event is growing quickly, and people are being encouraged to register ahead of time to guarantee themselves a spot in the class. The pre-registration fee is only $20 and $25 at the door. Both Sumner and Saiz are hoping that even people who cannot make the class will still want to help out by taking advantage of the PayPal link for donations.

“We are completely volunteer-based and all donations and adoption fees go to the care of the rescues and operating expenses,” Saiz continued. “Unlike other animal rescue organizations, Save The Strays has no shelter and relies solely on people to foster the dogs. That is another reason why we look to have community-based events, so people have the opportunity to meet the volunteers, see some of the dogs looking for homes, and sign up to be a foster parent.”

“Being a part of the community is something that makes Legacy Fit special,” Sumner said, an avid animal activist and pet owner, himself, his gym's logo includes the image of the American Pit Bull Terrier. “To be part of this event was a no-brainer for my staff and I, and we are expecting a tremendous turnout.”
