-- Recent times have witnessed significant progress in cooperation between ASEAN and China across multiple domains. The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two sides has been further consolidated, injecting new impetus into regional peace, stability, and economic prosperity.
In terms of economic and trade cooperation, a series of events are set to vigorously enhance the connectivity of regional industrial and supply chains. Notably, the 2025 ASEAN-China-Japan-Republic of Korea (ASEAN+3) Industrial and Supply Chain Connectivity Conference, a key side event of the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo, will be held on September 18, 2025, in Nanning, Guangxi, China. The conference will feature eight sectors, including advanced manufacturing and clean energy, inviting representatives from ASEAN, China, Japan, and South Korea to exchange insights and facilitate matchmaking under the theme "Strengthening Regional Synergy, Promoting Sustainable Development of Industrial and Supply Chains." Furthermore, the 2025 China-ASEAN Business Cooperation Exchange is scheduled for September 16 in Nanning, aiming to deepen practical cooperation in trade and investment between the business communities of China and ASEAN and to foster cross-border and trans-regional industrial chain synergy. Approximately 220 representatives from business associations and enterprises from ASEAN and other Belt and Road partner countries are expected to attend. These events are seen as crucial measures for implementing the consensus reached in the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0 negotiations and are anticipated to propel regional economic integration to a higher level.
Regarding industrial collaboration, China-ASEAN cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) innovation is steadily advancing. As of the end of August this year, the China-ASEAN AI Innovation Cooperation Center has secured 51 projects from within China and 16 projects from ASEAN member states. Guangxi is actively promoting the construction of the center, designating a 7.78-square-kilometer core development zone in Nanning and establishing several sub-centers in ASEAN countries and other key Chinese cities to further strengthen the economic bonds between China and ASEAN. Currently, the development of the center's exhibition space and incubation zones is in full swing, having collected over 450 AI application cases spanning smart healthcare, transportation, social governance, and other fields. Selected outstanding cases will be exhibited during the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo.
Forum exchanges are equally diverse and substantial. The ASEAN-China Blue Economy Cooperation and Development Forum is set to take place in Nanning from September 8 to 12. Focusing on the theme "Innovation, Green, Smart: Shaping a New ASEAN-China Blue Future," the forum will delve into cooperation achievements in marine ecology, industries, and technology. Government representatives from China and ASEAN countries, diplomats stationed in China, international organizations, research institutions, and business leaders will gather for multiple seminars to chart the future course of blue economy development. Additionally, the 2025 China-ASEAN Expo Green and Low-Carbon Exhibition will be held from September 17 to 21 in Nanning. Centered on "Digital and Intelligent Empowerment for Green Development, Jointly Building a Low-Carbon ASEAN-China Future," it will provide a platform for the environmental protection industries of China and ASEAN, boosting win-win cooperation in low-carbon initiatives.
Currently, the friendly cooperation between China and ASEAN countries is rapidly expanding and deepening. Both sides are committed to strengthening collaboration, broadening cooperative fields, and jointly advancing the building of a China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
