Biomaterials are high-tech materials used to diagnose, repair, or enhance the function of human tissues and organs. Bioceramics can be divided into three categories: bioactive ceramics, bioabsorbable ceramics and nonresorbable ceramics. The bioactive ceramics directly form chemical bonds with the bone, the bioabsorbable ceramics are resorbed in the physiological environment and actively participate in the metabolic processes of bone formation, and the nonresorbable ceramics are biologically inert. These bioceramics have been widely used in different clinical applications. They are all biocompatible and have been used as implants for medical applications.

Organic biomaterials
Organic biomaterials are mainly polymer materials. According to the properties of polymer materials, they can be divided into synthetic materials (eg. polyurethane, polyester, polylactic acid, polyglycolic acid, other medical synthetic plastics and rubber) and natural macromolecules (eg. collagen, silk protein, cellulose, chitosan, etc.). And according to the usage of polymer materials, they can be divided into bioinertmaterial, bioactive material and biodegradable material.
