AirAsia X inaugurates flight to Nairobi, the safari capital of the world

AirAsia X (AAX) today celebrates the milestone of launching flights from Kuala Lumpur to Nairobi, Kenya — the safari capital of the world.

The inaugural flight departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) at 7:00 PM and touched down smoothly at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 11:00 PM (local time) on the same day, with an impressive load factor of over 90 per cent.

Guests travelling on flight D7 101 were warmly sent off by Deputy Minister of Transport of Malaysia, YB Datuk Haji Hasbi bin Haji Habibollah, the High Commissioner of Kenya to Malaysia, His Excellency Ekitela Moru, Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, Chairman of Capital A, Dato’ Fam Lee Ee, Chairman of AAX and Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AAX.

On 16 November 2024, the airline will proudly welcome its first flight from Nairobi to Kuala Lumpur, celebrating this historic achievement alongside Tourism Malaysia. The return flight, D7 102, will arrive at 3:10PM (local time) and will be received by Zurina Abd. Samad, Deputy Director International Promotion (Asia/Africa) Tourism Malaysia on behalf of Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Director-General of Tourism Malaysia and AirAsia Allstars, with a solid passenger load factor of over 70 per cent.

Renowned as the safari capital of the world, Nairobi offers a rare opportunity to see wildlife within its city limits. This vibrant city blends rich culture, wildlife experiences, and bustling markets, making it a thrilling gateway to Kenya’s natural wonders.
