AddictionHelp.Guide Launches Website Focused on Ending Addiction

AddictionHelp.Guide provides resources, infographics, videos, blog posts and articles to help guide people who are coping and trying to overcome addiction

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 21.5 million adults in the U.S. (individuals over the age of 12) battled a substance disorder in 2014. However, addiction is not just an adult focused disorder. More than 700,000 individuals between the ages of 12 and 17 battled alcohol abuse in 2013 and five percent of the adolescent population suffered from a substance abuse, which equates to 1.3 million teens.

In an effort to battle the widespread addiction problem, AddictionHelp.Guide launched a new website featuring information, resources and help for those coping with this problem. “Our new website is designed to empower and connect those who are currently struggling with various types of addiction,” stated company representative Jeffery Knight. “We understand that it’s not an easy task to overcome addiction and that those recovering shouldn’t have to face the process alone.”

Right now, in the U.S. more than 23 million people are living with addiction. Most of these individuals will never seek help due to the stigma that comes with this condition. There are varying reasons people don’t seek treatment with 96% of individuals claiming they didn’t believe they needed it. Not only do those who suffer from addiction need information, but their friends and loved ones, too.

Knight continued, “Our goal is to help those suffering from addiction get one step closer to freedom. We understand that admitting you need help is the hardest step. With our website, we can put individuals in touch with local professionals and help them find others who are going through the same thing. We want to reassure them they aren’t alone.”

The negative stigma attached to addiction is far reaching. Many addicts are scared to ask for help because of the adverse effects it may have on other parts of their life. In a recent study, when asked why they didn’t seek help, approximately 30% stated it was because of the negative effects it may have on their job, or what others may think of them. This is a stigma that has to stop so people who need help aren’t afraid to reach out.
