Everywhere people look this summer, social media marketing conferences are so prevalent, they may be considered de rigueur for anyone even remotely connected to the marketing industry. With social media marketing sales earning revenues in the tens of billions, everyone seems to want in.

-- According to leading statistics provider Statistica, by the end of 2015, social media selling will amount to $30 billion worldwide, 50 percent more than the $20 billion tallied in 2014. For businesses and organizations across the board, social media is no longer an optional component of every marketing campaign. For individuals who have established marketing careers or are taking the steps to do so, social media is quickly becoming the industry’s proverbial bread and butter.

As a direct result of the marketing industry’s embrace of social tools to brand, sell and generate traffic to websites, a satellite industry in marketing seminars, conferences and refresher courses has gripped every major metropolitan area in the country.

San Francisco based Global Strategic Management Institute (GSMI) is the conference organizer behind the popular 2015 Social Media Strategies Summit, a series of eight social media marketing conferences in eight cities scheduled in 2015. Each separate conference attracts marketing and social media speakers who are industry superstars, bringing in droves of excited attendees who understand that the expertise exchanged at these events is invaluable.

Financial marketing leader Jeremiah Desmarais joined other social media marketing experts in Chicago April 28-30 for the 2015 SMSS as a keynote speaker, where he spent his time on stage interacting directly with the audience presenting actionable and repeatable marketing success formulas from his private client portfolio that matched the interests of his audience.

Other marketing industry heavy hitters who drew enthusiastic audiences at the Chicago Summit were Julian Alrdridge of Charles Schwab; Gina Ballenger of Twitter; Andrea Leitch of National Geographic Travel; Chris Jacob of Salesforce; Patrick Cooper of NPR; Josh Weaver of Zappo’s; Linda Konop of Johnson & Johnson; Allison Smith of Forrester Research, Laura Wilson of Georgetown University and more.

Breanna Jacobs, conference production director for GSMI, said Desmarais is a perfect example of the charismatic industry expert that attendees come to these social media marketing conferences to see.

“From the moment Jeremiah took the stage, we could feel the energy in the room lift and our 300 attendees were paying rapt attention the whole time,” Jacobs says. “He was insightful, real, and gave many valuable strategies our attendees raved about.”

The next SMSS will be held in New York, June 9-11, followed by SMSS for Higher Ed in Boston, July 21-23, SMSS Atlanta Aug. 19-20, SMSS San Francisco Sept. 23-24, SMSS Boston Oct. 21-22 and Dallas, Dec. 8-9, 2015.
