YGGDRASH has Launched a New Type of Network for its Users

Share this news:

YGGDRASH is a network focusing on connecting multiple databases.

-- The technology stack of YGGDRASH focuses on addressing slow processing speed due to decentralization, solving the problem of networks that rely on a large number of “selfish” non-specific validation nodes, and slow block sync speed. YGGDRASH tackles slow processing speed with a “branch and stem” structure that allows decentralized applications to run on individual network branches. Regarding “selfish” network validation nodes, YGGDRASH applies a delegated proof of authority (DPOA) system to ensure that nodes who validate that network for economic considerations will also contribute to the health of the network. Lastly, YGGDRASH applies a block reassembly algorithm to increase block sync speed. The YGGDRASH block reassembly algorithm allows data to be downloaded with the help of a peer-to-peer network. As block size increases, block sync rate is reduced.

The YGGDRASH platform operates on a “branch and stem” structure, where multiple databases exist on the same network. The “stem” exists as a main network that connects other “branches.” Each decentralized application on the YGGDRASH network will run on its own branch. Users of the YGGDRASH network will be able to run their own decentralized apps on branches. The name “YGGDRASH” is a portmanteau of the words “Yggdrasil” and “hash.” “Yggdrasil” is the name of a mythical tree that connects the nine worlds in Norse cosmology. The word “hash” refers to hashed values used in network transactions and networks.

The reputation system of the YGGDRASH network assigns a trust score to each branch and user. Reputation scores are based on how much a user contributes to the YGGDRASH network in terms of resources. Users with higher reputation scores pay less fees when using the network. Users with the highest reputation scores do not pay any fees when using the network. The purpose of the YGGDRASH reputation system is to allow users who running nodes to benefit for volunteering their resources, while still increasing the stability of the overall network. Transaction fees are paid in the form of YEED, the medium of exchange on the YGGDRASH network.

A few potential usage cases for the YGGDRASH platform include decentralization applications and internet of technology applications. Regarding decentralized application stores, the stem and branch structure of the YGGDRASH network allows decentralized application data storage to occur on specified branches. This is done to increase efficiency of resource usage on the network. Lastly, an internet of technology application can be seen with a future use case that involves driverless cars. Specifically, a user may use a YGGDRASH based rideshare app to call a driverless car to his location. If the user successfully pays for the rideshare with YEED, the network will take note and his reputation score will increase accordingly. If the user fails to show up for his ride, his reputation score will fall.
