VeraData Holdings Completes Acquisition of Avalon Consulting, Forming the Nonprofit Sector's Most Integrated Fundraising Enterprise

Backed by Beringer Capital and led by EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2026 Florida Award winner Michael Peterman, VeraData now operates a four-agency platform serving more than 400 nonprofits that collectively raise over $1 billion annually

-- VeraData Holdings, the originator of Donor Science and the most acquisitive company in nonprofit fundraising services, has completed its merger with Avalon Consulting, a Washington D.C.-based fundraising agency with nearly three decades of direct response and multichannel program experience. The deal marks the latest move in a private equity-backed consolidation strategy that has transformed VeraData from a data analytics firm into a full-spectrum fundraising enterprise with capabilities spanning predictive modeling, creative strategy, digital storytelling, direct mail production, and integrated donor communications.

The acquisition adds Avalon to a growing portfolio that already includes Faircom New York and Teal Media, bringing the total number of agencies operating under the VeraData Holdings umbrella to four alongside the company's core data platform.

"Nonprofits deserve fewer disconnected tactics and more integrated, accountable partnerships," said Michael Peterman, Founder and CEO of VeraData Holdings. "Together, across Donor Science, Creative Science, and Media Science, we are building an omnichannel fundraising enterprise that is more integrated, more measurable, and more effective."

The Investment Thesis

In November 2022, VeraData received a significant investment from private investment firm Beringer Capital to position the company for substantial growth in servicing the nonprofit sector. What followed was a disciplined acquisition strategy targeting agencies with complementary capabilities, established client relationships, and cultural alignment around mission-driven work.

The company rebranded as VeraData: The Donor Science Company in January 2024 and announced the formation of The VeraData Group, consolidating acquisitions of Faircom and New River Communications alongside Acuity under a single structure spanning creative design, data analytics, production, and logistics. Faircom New York and Teal Media subsequently merged in July 2025, uniting Teal's digital branding and technology capabilities with Faircom's direct mail, digital strategy, and omnichannel marketing depth. The Avalon acquisition, announced April 30, 2026, completes the next phase of that build. Discoperi

Why the Nonprofit Sector Is an Attractive Consolidation Target

The nonprofit fundraising services industry has historically been fragmented, with organizations managing separate relationships across data vendors, creative agencies, production firms, and media buyers. That fragmentation creates cost inefficiencies, attribution gaps, and a diffuse accountability structure where no single partner is responsible for the outcome that matters most: fundraising revenue.

Peterman identified that structural problem when VeraData was founded in 2007 and has spent nearly two decades building toward its solution. The performance data supports the thesis. VeraData routinely doubles or triples an organization's active donor pool while reducing the cost of acquiring donors by 20 to 30 percent, outcomes made possible by controlling the full chain from predictive modeling through creative execution and channel delivery. The total addressable market is substantial. The nonprofit sector in the United States generates hundreds of billions in annual philanthropic giving. VeraData's current client base, representing more than 400 organizations across humanitarian aid, animal welfare, veteran services, health research, and related verticals, collectively raises more than $1 billion annually. That figure represents a fraction of the sector's fundraising activity and underscores the growth runway available to a platform with the capability and infrastructure to serve it.

Omnichannel as the Competitive Moat

VeraData blends Donor Science, Creative Science, and Media Science through its partner agencies Teal Media, Faircom New York, and Avalon Consulting, with capabilities spanning predictive analytics, creative strategy, direct mail production, digital capabilities, and data-driven optimization. That combination is not easily replicated. Building proprietary donor behavioral data at scale requires years of sector-specific campaign history. Training predictive models on nonprofit giving patterns requires PhD-level quantitative talent with domain expertise. And delivering creative and production work that actually converts requires agency relationships built on long-term client trust. VeraData now owns all three and has structured its platform so each component makes the others more effective over time.

The company charges clients only when results are delivered, a performance-based model in place since the company's founding that aligns VeraData's financial outcomes directly with its clients' fundraising success. As the platform scales, that model becomes more defensible, not less, because the data flywheel compounds with every campaign.

Peterman was named EY US Entrepreneur of the Year 2026 Florida Award winner, selected from 592 finalists across 17 regions nationwide, and advances to the national competition at the EY Strategic Growth Forum in November 2026.
