-- Top Realtor Leslie Hoke has reported via her popular real estate website and blog Las Vegas Homes By Leslie that three Southern Nevada cities are among the top ten places to live without a college degree. The cities included North Las Vegas, Henderson, and Las Vegas. Hoke says the data published by Movoto.com was compiled from the United States Census Bureau, Center for Disease Control, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
“There is no question that in today’s knowledge economy, it’s beneficial to earn a college degree, but it’s nice to know that in southern Nevada a person can still earn a livable wage without one. I think it shows we have a diverse economy here that makes a place for all types of workers,” said Las Vegas Realtor Leslie Hoke.
“I’m not surprised three of our cities made the list. The data certainly supports the high rankings. I drilled down into Movoto’s list and discovered they created the rankings using very authoritative sources including the U.S. Census, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the Center for Disease Control. The criteria for the list included percent of high school grads that were employed, had health insurance (pre-affordable care act), and median annual earnings,” said Hoke.
“2015 is shaping up to be a great year for Las Vegas real estate. When you combine all the rosy economic data for non-college grads with the fact that the median price for a home is only $205,000 in the Las Vegas metro area, you’ve got a scenario in which the average person can come to this area and live the American dream,” Hoke went on to say.
