-- Norway is finally hosting its first major web3 conference. It is the Unleash conference, organized by the startup media company Kaupr, which is bringing together over 120 in-person attendees and 18 leading speakers for its conference during Oslo Innovation Week. In addition to the physical event, which takes place on September 26th at Pressens Hus in Oslo, all who register can follow the conference the whole day via live streaming.
The Unleash Conference is part of a process building a Web3 community in the Nordics. In the last couple of weeks the organizer Kaupr from Norway and its partners have engaged more than 500 people, in and around the Unleash hybrid event, Unleash newsletters and an Unleash Linkedin event.
The future of internet
Web3 is often referred to as the next generation of the internet, powered by technologies such as blockchain, AR/VR, AI, and data. ‘Instead of focusing solely on one technological trend, such as artificial intelligence, the blockchain or the metaverse, we have chosen to shine a light on how several of these technologies influence each other, creating both challenges and opportunities, shaping the future of internet’, says Morten Myrstad in Kaupr, the initiator and moderator for the conference.
According to Myrstad, the conference consists of three main tracks, namely technology, finance, and user experiences. ‘Additionally, we have invited representatives from younger generations to share their perspectives on how they think the future of the internet will develop’, Myrstad says.
Leading speakers
The packed program during the conference includes 18 prominent speakers, ranging from technology experts to bank & finance, and from startups to established businesses. These speakers include Sophia Adampour, the founder of Scandinavia's first NFT gallery, Thuc Hoang, the head of the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the Nordics, Firi, and Torbjørn Bull Jensen, the CEO of publicly traded Arcario AB and K33. Marius Thorvaldsen from the VR company Breach VR has made the trip from Trondheim, while Morten Rongaard from Reality+ has come all the way from London. Also on the speaker list is Magnus Jones from Ernst & Young, a highly sought-after speaker in both Europe and the Middle East. You can find the (full) list of all speakers and panelists here.

The conference is co-organized with BISO Web3 Society, a new student society at BI Norwegian Business School, that already has more than 150 members.
In addition to the Unleash event, Kaupr is running an online news site, a YouTube channel and two newsletters.
Oslo Innovation Week (25th-29th of September) is an umbrella event owned by the municipality of Oslo.15,000 people attended last year’s event, where one third came from abroad. International media also travel to Oslo during this week, to create stories about the Norwegian Tech and startup scene.
