Top Dollar Reveals Uncertainty Over Sustainable Investing

The personal finance blog says only 21% of investors chose sustainable projects to invest in last year, while 49% were considering it.

-- A study has revealed that sustainable investment has now gone mainstream, but a finance expert says only 21% of people are putting their money where their mouth is.

According to Bloomberg, sustainable investing was worth $37.8 trillion last year, but it is set to increase to $53 trillion by 2025.

Former stockbroker and wealth management expert Josh Dudick said that even though only 21% had invested in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), 49% were considering it.

Josh, who runs the blog Top Dollar, has created a guide to help investors understand more about ESG and guide them towards the best investment opportunities.

Josh said: “When investing in ESG, not all funds are equal and many investors are shocked to find that some ESGs invest in two of the biggest oil and gas companies in the world – ExxonMobil and Chevron. It is important investors examine the finer detail of these funds to ensure they meet their own personal investment criteria.”

With ESG investment set to explode in the next few years, Josh has developed a guide to help investors better understand ESGs and ensure they know everything they need to know before investing.

The Top Dollar guide explains what ESGs are, what to consider when investing, the best ESG funds to invest in and he pros and cons of this type of investment.

He said: “A lot of investors believe this is their chance to do their bit for the environment and the future. When deciding which fund you want to invest in, it is important for investors to consider how they want their money to impact the world. They can look at exactly how the companies they are investing are focusing their efforts and this will influence how they invest."

Some women may want to invest in companies that are prioritizing gender equality and reducing the gender pay gap. Others may want to focus more on ESG funds that are directing their efforts towards reducing carbon emissions and greenhouse gases.

The Top Dollar guide is designed to help to start converting those on the fence into sustainable investors of the future.

Josh, who spent 15 years working on Wall Street, set up Top Dollar to teach people how to make smart money choices.
