In the past, several studies have been revealed, leaving the public with mixed messages regarding a healthy amount of coffee and the potential dangers of “over-consumption.” There are some studies that claim drinking coffee each day can reduce the likelihood of Type II diabetes, along with some cancers, and that it helps to boost metabolism and brain health. There are other studies that have emphasized that excessive coffee can lead to migraines and heart disease. When it comes to the amount of coffee that’s considered too much, the studies have wildly varying figures.
In March of 2019, the University of Southern Australia’s professors, Dr. Ang Zhou and Dr. Elina Hypponen, shared the latest findings they had assembled regarding the maximum intake of coffee per day that will not pose a risk to the cardiovascular system. After taking the time to analyze the health records and the dietary patterns of 346,077 individuals between the ages of 37 and 73 gathered from the UK Biobank data, the number they ended with was five. According to the information in the study, by the time a person drinks six cups of Joe a day, they increase the risk of heart disease by up to 22 percent.
Another study, conducted at the British Cardiovascular Society conference came up with yet another number. Even though the highest intake amount for this group was five cups per day, after providing 8,412 individuals with an MRI heart scan and an infrared pulse wave test, it was discovered than even those people who drank up to 25 cups per day weren’t any more likely to experience an issue of artery stiffening than those who drank a cup or less per day.
This study led many people to look into coffee delivery to find the best coffee brands and enjoy the benefits offered by high-quality coffee offered by various brands across the globe.
While the tests and studies done related to coffee consumption are, for the most part, inconclusive due to the varied answers, it’s clear. There are few who are willing to give up coffee altogether. It’s become a part of some people’s daily ritual, at home, at work, and even in the car. With this type of following, it’s clear the coffee industry has nothing to worry about and that those coffee connoisseurs are going to continue to dawn the doors to get their daily caffeine fix.
It’s expected there will be more studies and tests in the near future regarding coffee consumption as scientists work diligently to find a definitive answer to the question of how much is too much. Until that point, it’s best for consumers to enjoy the jolt of energy offered by a good cup of coffee and try to avoid drinking so much they can’t sit still, as this is one of the best signs that too much has been drunk that’s available today.
