Longliner Lodge, formerly known as the Fly in Fish Inn, is a 14 unit hotel and restaurant located in Sitka, Alaska. This lodge recently underwent a change of ownership along with the name change. However, many things that drew visitors in the past continue to do so today, such as the breathtaking view.
"The view from our lodge takes visitors' breath away, as it is simply amazing. See sights such as Mt. Edgecumbe, sea lions, bald eagles and even the occasional whale. Those who visit remember the time they spend with us and the incredible vista for years to come. In fact, many guests cannot wait to come back again to see these sights as the seasons change," Jim Heiser, spokesperson for the Longliner Lodge (longlinersitka.com), explains.
Sitka is known for its natural splendor. The diverse history of the area is enough to keep history buffs engaged the entire time they are in the area, and the cultural heritage ensures every member of the family will find something they enjoy during their stay. When the time comes to return to the lodge, guests find they have outstanding accommodations where they can rest and relax, and the lodge includes a restaurant for easy access to meals.
"Four of our rooms have been upgraded to one bedroom suites of approximately 1,000 square feet. These suites feature ocean view balconies with some jutting out over the water. Furthermore, the lodge has partnered with a local charter company to allow guests the opportunity to catch fish such as salmon, halibut, lingcod, and other species of Rockfish. Every guest who stays with us will feel as if their needs are met before they are even aware of them, as we want their trip to be pleasant in every way," Heiser continues.
Plan a visit during 2017 to take part in Alaska's Sesquicentennial (150th) Commemoration and take advantage of the many activities planned around this occasion. Check out the Sitka Historical Museum, and plan an afternoon at the Sheldon Jackson Museum, the oldest museum in the state. The Alaska Raptor Center is another attraction that visitors would be disappointed to miss and there are numerous others.
"The town houses a bear sanctuary and something for every member of the family. Visit a park, rent a kayak or explore the area on foot. It's all a matter of what the guest prefers. The unique location, quick access to the water and the restaurant/bar/lodge area ensure our guests have an experience that cannot be obtained anywhere other than at the Longliner Lodge (www.longlinersitka.com), Heiser states.
