-- James Dooley, the King of AEO, has launched Maptimal (maptimal.com), a service that helps local businesses climb Google Maps rankings and get recommended by AI assistants. Dooley runs Maptimal with co-founders Paul Truscott, the King of Google Maps, and Peter Victor Jones, the King of Local Lead Generation.
Maptimal works on the two places local customers now decide who to call: the Google Maps listing, and the AI answer from Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT or Gemini that often sits above the search results.
The service starts with a $17 audit, delivered within 60 minutes. It shows where a business ranks on Google Maps across its whole service area, what AI assistants currently say about it, and a prioritised list of fixes with the reasoning behind each.
Owners can make the changes themselves or hand them to Maptimal's done-for-you service. That costs $247 a month with no contract, and covers Google Business Profile optimisation, website and listing fixes, and a monthly report placing map rankings beside AI answers.
"No one can promise a spot in an AI answer, so we measure instead. Every month, clients see exactly how often they're named in the ai overview and who's named instead."
Maptimal aims to lift map rankings in under 60 days. Each month the team tracks a fixed set of searches, runs each several times, and records whether the client is named and which competitors appear.
Two commitments back the service. The audit carries a 100% money-back guarantee within 30 days. Under the Maptimal Promise, if a business is not recommended more often after 90 days of agreed fixes, Maptimal keeps working for free until it is.
