We take our music seriously, but we don't take ourselves seriously.

-- At a time when the music industry often feels like an exercise in personal branding, The Jimmy Dixon Group offers something refreshingly different: genuine connection through shared musical passion. Their sophomore album, "The Rough Demos II," released March 7th, captures this ethos in 41 minutes of raw, unfiltered rock that feels like a conversation between old friends.

Recorded in stolen moments at Rick's Airport Recorders, this collection isn't just music—it's an invitation to connect over a common language of authentic sound.

"We take our music seriously, but we don't take ourselves seriously," explains frontman Jimmy Dixon. "I think people can relate to that, and we've been able to make incredible connections based on that humility. The imperfections on this record? That's just us being honest about who we are."

The group has developed a devoted following not just for their music—which includes breakthrough hit "Peter's Pool" on The Emerging 300 Artist Chart and the streaming success of "Afternoon Sundown,"—but for their ability to create musical community wherever they go.

"We have a passion for talking about music we love and sharing with people the music that has influenced our work," Dixon continues. "When we can make a shared connection with people based on a love of an artist or a style of music, that greatly increases the chance they'll give our music a chance."

This philosophy shines throughout the album's 11 tracks, from January's single "When We Were In Bloom" to standouts like "Among The Morning" and "The Man With A Thousand Faces." Listeners don't just hear songs—they feel invited into a musical conversation that spans generations of influence.

The band's origin story—seven unrelated musicians who all coincidentally share the Dixon surname, finding each other across America's dive bar landscape—reads like folklore but speaks to their approachable authenticity. From classical violinist Benmont Dixon to drummer Chubbs Dixon (found stranded on an Oklahoma highway), the group embodies musical diversity without pretension.

"What sets them apart is how they treat their listeners as fellow travelers rather than consumers," notes music critic Stella Winters. "Their shows feel like gatherings of friends sharing favorite records, and 'The Rough Demos II' captures that vibe perfectly—it's music that prioritizes connection over perfection."

At live performances, the band is known for their impromptu discussions about musical influences, often asking audience members to share their favorite deep cuts and obscure tracks. This community-building approach has turned casual listeners into devoted fans who feel personally invested in the group's journey.

"The Rough Demos II" is available now on all major streaming platforms and limited-edition vinyl, with each physical copy including handwritten notes about the songs and artists that inspired each track—another way the band invites listeners deeper into the conversation.
