The Best Dads, founded by Mark Szkudlarek, launches its platform focused on faith, family, love, life, and the realities fathers face while navigating modern parenting.

-- The Best Dads, a platform founded by Mark Szkudlarek, has launched with a focus on helping fathers navigate parenting, family life, faith, relationships, and the challenges that can accompany raising children today. Built from Szkudlarek’s own experiences as a husband and father, the platform shares personal reflections and observations intended to help dads feel less alone as they work through the realities of fatherhood.

The platform describes its purpose as “Helping dads be their best” and centers on Szkudlarek’s effort to share what he has learned through his own family journey. The site’s existing content covers subjects including fatherhood, family, relationships, faith, parenting, personal growth, and everyday experiences. Szkudlarek says the goal is straightforward: to help one dad a day navigate the journey of parenting a little more smoothly.

“I want a dad to finish reading and feel like someone else has actually been where he is and experienced what he is feeling,” Szkudlarek says. “Admitting you don’t have it figured out, whether that’s your kids, your marriage, your faith, or your own head, isn’t weakness. It’s actually the first honest step toward showing up better for the people you love.”

Szkudlarek says The Best Dads grew directly from his experience raising two children with his wife. He explains that his family’s understanding of parenting changed significantly after their oldest child was diagnosed on the autism spectrum at 21 and their youngest was diagnosed with ADHD at 16. Those experiences prompted the couple to look back on childhood, schooling, clinical support, medication decisions, and the expectations they carried, wondering how earlier understanding might have changed the path their family walked.

According to Szkudlarek, those experiences also shaped his perspective on neurodiversity. He says he views these differences as different ways of moving through the world, with sensory and empathetic experiences that can challenge expectations created around conventional homes, classrooms and workplaces. His stated intention is to help other families think differently about children whose needs may not fit traditional expectations.

The platform also places mental health at the center of Szkudlarek’s perspective on fatherhood. He says his family has experienced depression, anxiety, inpatient care, and outpatient programs, experiences that have influenced how he understands his responsibilities as a husband and father. He says he has also had to reconsider what faith and fatherhood mean to him.

“This is my passion project, and I am just getting started,” Szkudlarek says. “This isn't a parenting-tips blog, and I'm not writing it as an expert. I'm a dad who's still figuring things out, and I'd rather be honest about what I'm still learning than pretend I've arrived somewhere.”

The Best Dads’ website presents its content as a collection of experiences, observations, and learnings rather than a claim to perfection. Its stated philosophy acknowledges that parenting is difficult for both mothers and fathers and that parents stumble along the way. The platform encourages readers to focus on loving their children, supporting them and creating opportunities to make their lives easier.

Recent material on the site includes reflections on spending meaningful time with children, staying present as a busy dad, and strengthening father-child relationships through everyday moments. Szkudlarek writes about lessons from his own experiences, including times when he has realized that being physically present does not always mean being fully engaged.

Although The Best Dads is directed toward fathers, Szkudlarek says many of the subjects explored on the platform can resonate with mothers and other parents navigating similar family challenges. He also says he is exploring ways to share stories from other dads with different lived experiences and to create more space for honest conversations about fatherhood today.

Through The Best Dads, Szkudlarek says his aim remains simple: help one dad feel a little less alone and a little better prepared for the responsibilities, uncertainties, and relationships that come with being a father. Better Dads. Stronger Families.
