QB Michael Birdsong accepts invitation to rookie camp with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Rocky McElhaney Sports Agency (RMS) and principal and founder, Rocky McElhaney, represent quarterback, Michael Birdsong.

After an exciting and unpredictable NFL Draft this past weekend, Rocky Sports is proud to announce that our client, QB Michael Birdsong, has accepted an invitation to rookie camp with the Seattle Seahawks. Several teams stayed in close contact with RMS and Birdsong throughout Friday and Saturday. As the draft closed, Birdsong and his team fielded rookie camp offers from 5 NFL teams before ultimately deciding to join the Seahawks. “While we are all disappointed Michael did not get drafted, we thought the Seahawks offered the best opportunity for him based on the roster and scheme. The terminology and offense is similar to what he successfully ran at TTU,” agent Rocky McElhaney stated. “The personal call on Thursday from Coach Pete Carroll was a factor in the process as well.”

Birdsong spent nearly two months in Atlanta, Georgia, training at Chip Smith Performance. He attended the NFL Regional Combine in Washington, D.C. at the Redskins’ practice facility. Birdsong also spent time in San Diego, California, training with Quarterback Coach Cree Morris. He had private workouts for the Oakland Raiders and threw for scouts and coaches for more than 20 different NFL teams at the Tennessee Tech and UT-Chattanooga Pro Days.

The quarterback’s journey started at FCS powerhouse James Madison University where he took over as the starter during his freshman year. He would go on to throw for over 3,000 yards and for 25 TDs before transferring up to FBS Marshall University. Michael won the starting job before suffering a season-ending injury early in his junior year. Birdsong spent his last year playing at Tennessee Tech University, where he threw for over 2,500 yards, 17 touchdowns and only 7 interceptions. Birdsong was second in the league in passing yards, third in total offense, and fourth in passing touchdowns. He was named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer Team. He holds the record for the second-most passing yards in a single season at TTU and had the best single season in total offense in school history. Birdsong received the Robert Hill Johnson Award, the football team’s highest honor, and was selected to play in the FBS All-American Tropical Bowl in Daytona Beach, Florida. Most importantly, he earned his undergraduate degree in Sports Management along the way and is currently working towards a graduate degree in Leadership Studies.

On the camp invitation, Birdsong says he is “Excited for the opportunity and ready to get to work.” Michael’s ability as a player is only exceeded by his character as a person; he has a reputation for being a relentless worker. RMS is proud of Michael Birdsong and excited to see him take the next step in his journey. “For Michael Birdsong, this is only the next step; he has been carrying himself like a professional for years,” McElhaney concluded.
