Meg and Nate met at Sportrock Climbing Centers. A year later, Nate proposed to Meg on the top out boulder at the Alexandria facility. As Sportrock is a special place for Meg and Nate, they decided to have their wedding there. Both have careers with the government and decided to plan a secret wedding.
Throughout the planning of the top-secret ceremony, the couple told their family and friends the event was being held at a typical venue, but on the day of the wedding, had everyone sent by bus to Sportrock.
The ceremony was performed by Sportrock's President, Lillian Chao-Quinlan, on the top out boulder, the same place where Nate proposed to Meg. Meg and Nate, who were in traditional wedding attire, climbed to the top of the boulder for the ceremony.
"Sportrock Climbing Centers and the entire staff were excited to be a part of this amazing event. We want to ensure any event is memorable for those who want to work with the gym and trust that we can make it the perfect location to celebrate some of the most important occasions," stated Marketing Manager Leane Abbott.
Planning out the layout of the event required a little imagination to make sure there was adequate space. The entire gym was available for the event and closed a few hours earlier to the public. The band played in the 60-foot route area, food was served in the bouldering area, the bar was at the front desk, and the ceremony was on the top out boulder. This collaborative effort by the directors and couple as well as supportive members ensured a great time on Meg and Nate's big day.
"Sportrock invites everyone in the area to visit our facilities and learn how we can make your special Event unconventional and unforgettable, or simply introduce you to the incredible sport of rock climbing" continued Abbott. "We take pride in everything we do and would love to work with you on your next event."
