Solar Solve is the manufacturer of SOLASOLV® anti-glare screens the only marine anti-glare screen in the world to hold simultaneous Type Approval from all four of the world’s leading classification societies: Lloyd’s Register (awarded May 2001), DNV (awarded July 2002), ABS American Bureau of Shipping (awarded September 2001), and RINA Registro Italiano Navale. This combination of approvals means that SOLASOLV® screens meet the certification requirements for commercial vessels operating under virtually any flag state or classification society worldwide.
A Track Record Built on Specialist Expertise
Solar Solve began manufacturing specialist marine window screens in South Shields in the early years of its operation and has remained at the same UK manufacturing base throughout its 50-year history. The company exports 90% of its turnover to customers across 108 countries, supplying SOLASOLV® screens and ROLASOLV® specialist fabric roller blinds to passenger ferries, cruise ships, tankers, offshore construction vessels, bulk carriers, platform supply vessels, LNG carriers, FPSOs, air traffic control towers, and a wide range of other commercial and specialist applications.
Over 200,000 Type Approved blinds and solar roller screens have been manufactured and dispatched from the South Shields factory since production began. Solar Solve holds ISO 9001 quality management certification and operates the independently managed Solar Solve Marine Quality Assured system, which has been in continuous operation since 1991 and is audited externally every year as part of the Type Approval renewal process.
Type Approval The Standard That Matters
IMO SOLAS regulations require that navigation bridge window fittings on commercial vessels do not impair outward visibility. Type Approval from a recognised classification society is the independent mechanism by which a product is confirmed to meet this requirement. SOLASOLV screens are specifically designed to reduce solar glare by up to 93% and solar heat by up to 87% while maintaining a completely clear, undistorted outward view through the navigation bridge window at all times.
