-- Sherwood Queenstown’s eponymous restaurant has been awarded the title of ‘Best Restaurant’ at the 2025 Hospitality New Zealand Business Awards for Excellence. The restaurant, renowned for blending culinary excellence with sustainability, was one of eight finalists in the category.
Nestled in a tranquil setting overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables, under the guidance of Chef Chris Scott, Sherwood offers a hyper-seasonal, plant-forward menu crafted from fresh produce sourced from its on-site organic gardens and local suppliers. Paired with a 100% natural wine list and craft cocktails made only from Antipodean spirits, dining at Sherwood is an immersive yet relaxed journey through quintessential New Zealand flavours and epitomises the term ‘casual excellence’.
Chef Scott says it’s an honour to be named Best Restaurant by Hospitality New Zealand. “This recognition is hugely exciting and a testament to the work of the team to ensure that not only is every dish leaving the kitchen prepared to perfection, but that the overall atmosphere of the restaurant is warm, welcoming and enjoyable. It’s a privilege to champion the rich produce of Central Otago, and we love sharing these flavours with guests from the region, New Zealand and the world.
“We like doing things a little bit differently, so we’re thrilled that our hyper-local, seasonal approach with an underlying commitment to sustainability is resonating with the hospitality industry.”
The restaurant is not just a dining destination but a hub for the community, offering a warm and immersive experience with a yearly calendar of events. Collaboration is a key focus for the restaurant, highlighting the best of Central Otago’s produce as well as local artists, musicians and wellness practitioners for a holistic approach to connection and nourishment.
Sherwood is also the only hotel restaurant to be awarded Two Hats in the 2024/2025 Cuisine Good Food Awards.
