-- Sheila J. Simpson, Executive Director of FOCCUS® Marriage Ministries, has been named a recipient of the “Excellence in Education Award” at the Education 2.0 Conference, held April 7–9, 2026, at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The award recognizes global leaders whose work demonstrates innovation and measurable impact in advancing education across diverse settings.

As Executive Director of FOCCUS® Marriage Ministries, Simpson leads a worldwide nonprofit dedicated to strengthening marriages through structured, conversation-based learning. Under her leadership, FOCCUS has expanded its reach globally, with inventories now available in 21 languages and used by dioceses, churches, and organizations serving couples at critical stages of their relationships.

With more than 38 years of experience in corporate leadership and information technology, Simpson has played a key role in modernizing and expanding FOCCUS resources. Her leadership has contributed to the development and launch of new inventories designed to meet the evolving needs of engaged and married couples, including specialized tools for diverse life circumstances. Earlier in her career, her work in implementing transformative technology was recognized with a Computerworld Laureate Award.

FOCCUS® Marriage Ministries develops research-informed relationship inventories that guide couples through meaningful conversations on topics such as expectations, values, communication, and long-term decision-making. These tools are widely used in both faith-based and non-denominational settings, helping couples build stronger foundations through intentional dialogue.

Upon receiving the award, Simpson shared: “This recognition is deeply meaningful to me because it reflects the impact of something simple but powerful—intentional conversation. Strong relationships don’t happen by chance; they are built through honest dialogue, reflection, and commitment. I’m honored to be part of a mission that helps couples have the conversations that truly matter, and I share this recognition with the team and partners who make that work possible every day.”

Simpson’s recognition highlights a growing movement in education that extends beyond traditional classrooms, emphasizing guided conversation, personal reflection, and real-world application. Through her work, she continues to advance an approach to learning that equips individuals and couples to make thoughtful, informed decisions that shape their lives and communities.
