-- Shawnee Burton of Lancaster-based legal firm, the Lancaster Law Group, is pleased to announce her acceptance as a fellow to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), an esteemed organization committed to excellence in family law. With 20 years of experience in complex family law litigation, Burton is well known among her clients and in the profession for her work on issues ranging from prenuptial agreements to divorce, alimony, child custody, and child support-related matters.
“I am extremely honored to have been offered a fellowship in such a prestigious organization,” Burton reveals. “I am excited to start meeting and working with other family law attorneys from around the country. I believe this fellowship will bring many opportunities to grow my practice, and to provide unique resources for our clients.”
Burton co-founded the Lancaster Law Group in 2015 with partner Joseph McMahon following a long career in family law in the Commonwealths of Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. A Lancaster County native, she graduated from the New England School of Law Boston in 2005 and returned to her deep roots in the Lancaster area to provide legal services in 2010.
Burton is known for being a strong advocate for clients during challenging family-related legal cases. She argues cases at the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas and the Superior Court of Pennsylvania. She also has other professional achievements, including her roles as guardian ad litem and parenting coordinator. Burton is certified in collaborative law. All of these accomplishments support her goal to always provide her clients with the fairest outcomes in difficult disputes while focusing on the best interest of children.
In addition to the AAML, Burton is currently a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Family Law Section Council and was previously the chair of the Lancaster Bar Association’s Family Law Section. She resides in Manheim Township with her family, allowing her to operate locally.
