Quota Crushers Agency Releases New Internal Sales Recruitment Data

-- U.S. employers announced 443,604 job cuts in the first half of 2026, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas. Quota Crushers Agency, a specialized sales recruitment and executive search firm serving employers across the United States and Canada, has released new internal sales recruitment data based on interviews with 1,000 candidates.

The findings show that candidate trust, company stability and layoff history are becoming major factors in whether sales professionals will consider an opportunity, participate in interviews or accept an employment offer.

The internal data was collected through direct candidate interviews conducted during Quota Crushers Agency's sales recruitment and headhunting activity across the United States and Canada.

"Companies often treat layoffs as an internal financial decision, but candidates view them as evidence about stability, leadership and their future with the organization," said Eden Mordchaev, CEO of Quota Crushers Agency. "Our internal data shows that layoffs affect more than the employees who lose their jobs. They also change how remaining employees and prospective candidates view the company."

The candidates represented sales, business development and revenue leadership roles across SaaS and enterprise software, cybersecurity, technology, logistics and transportation, financial services, manufacturing, professional services and other complex B2B industries. Positions represented included Sales Development Representatives, Business Development Representatives, Account Executives, Enterprise Account Executives, Sales Managers, Vice Presidents of Sales, Chief Revenue Officers, Presidents and Chief Executive Officers.

Quota Crushers Agency found that 780 of the 1,000 candidates interviewed wanted to leave their employer after witnessing layoffs, despite remaining employed. Many began questioning the stability of the business, the security of their own position and the decisions being made by company leadership. For sales professionals, uncertainty is especially serious because compensation often depends on commission, quota attainment and the company's ability to support revenue generation.

"A salesperson does not need to be personally laid off to lose trust in a company," Mordchaev said. "When strong employees see people around them lose their jobs, many become open to recruiter outreach because they would rather make a planned move than wait for more uncertainty."

Quota Crushers Agency found that 250 candidates asked whether a prospective employer had previously conducted layoffs, wanting to know when the layoffs occurred, which teams were affected and whether further reductions were expected. This means company stability is becoming an early qualification factor during sales recruitment. High-performing sales professionals are often already employed, achieving quota and earning commissions when approached by a recruiter, and joining a new company requires them to give up a known compensation plan, established relationships and a level of professional security.

"Recruiting a successful Account Executive or sales leader means asking that person to take a career and financial risk," Mordchaev said. "When the hiring company has recently conducted layoffs, that risk becomes much greater."

The most serious finding was that 920 of the 1,000 candidates interviewed said they would not want to join a company that had recently gone through layoffs, with only 80 candidates indicating that they might still consider the opportunity. Quota Crushers Agency believes employers must distinguish between a genuine talent shortage and a candidate trust problem.

"Our internal data does not show that strong sales candidates have disappeared," Mordchaev said. "It shows that candidates are becoming more selective about the companies they trust. The talent exists, but employers must earn the confidence required to recruit it."

As a specialized sales recruitment agency serving the United States and Canada, Quota Crushers Agency helps employers identify and address these concerns before beginning a search.

Through its national and cross-border sales recruitment services, the firm recruits across major U.S. and Canadian markets, including New York, Texas, Ontario and British Columbia.

The findings are based on direct interviews with 1,000 candidates conducted through Quota Crushers Agency's sales recruitment and headhunting activity across the United States and Canada. Each finding represents a response to a separate question, and the categories should not be added together because candidates could answer more than one. The findings are internal Quota Crushers Agency data and should not be interpreted as a census of every sales professional in the United States and Canada.
