-- Premier Coal is celebrating a significant safety achievement: one year of workers being injury free without any lost time.
Premier Coal is a local open cut coal mine in Collie and employs over 320 people. This safety milestone builds on the mine’s commitment to workplace safety.
The occasion was marked with a visit from Dave Bennett, Yancoal’s Executive General Manager of Operations, who presented Premier Coal Operations Manager, Braedon Gaske with an authentic Miner’s Safety Lamp.
The Miner’s Safety Lamp dates back to the late 1700s and early 1800s, when underground miners needed a safety lamp that would provide safe illumination and detect impure or dangerous air underground.
Premier Coal Operations Manager, Braedon Gaske, was thrilled to reach the one-year recordable injury free milestone.
“This recognition belongs to our people who work onsite every day, making safe decisions, using effective risk management and having a shared focus on protecting each other.
“Safety is a foundation value of our workplace and has established Premier Coal as a safe and efficient operation.
“Our people must always be mindful of why their safety is important to them and take action to manage risk and implement controls. We want them to go home safely at the end of every shift.
“This success is a direct result of our people’s proactive efforts, vigilance and caution, and we are very proud of them,” said Braedon.
