-- The 2025 global recruitment for the Land-Sea International Youth Envoys program, themed "Seeking Unity Across Lands and Seas," is drawing to a close. Since its launch in Feb. 2025, the activity has attracted enthusiastic participation from young people worldwide. According to the organizing committee, more than 2000 submissions—including paintings, essays, and speech videos—have been received from youth in China, North America, Western Europe, and the Belt and Road countries and regions, reflecting their passion for cross-cultural dialogue.

Participants were invited to choose from 4 topics—"Introduce the place where I live," "My vision of the future world," "I have an idea and hope to get the support from friends around the world," and "The thing I most want to say to you"—and present their views through creative forms. This open format inspired imagination and engagement, allowing youth to share their voices in diverse ways.

"Technology should serve as a warm bridge, rather than a cold tool," wrote Luo Chengjia, a student from Chongqing Vocational Institute of Tourism. Her essay captured the profound contemplation of contemporary youth regarding the relationship between technology and humanities, serving as a vivid reflection of sincere expressions throughout the event. Teenagers from around the world have utilized this platform to freely express themselves like Luo Chengjia—some capturing the vibrant essence of their hometowns, others envisioning future blueprints, while some sharing creative ideas—collectively showcasing the diverse perspectives of global youth.

"The quality and variety of the entries have far exceeded our expectations, we hope the world can see the strength of youth, and that youth can see the diversity and possibilities of the world."A committee representative said that this activity not only provides a stage for teenagers from all over the world to show themselves, but more importantly, it builds a bridge to promote mutual understanding and friendship.

It is worth noting that this year’s recruitment covered a wide range of participants, attracting enthusiastic involvement from young people of diverse cultural backgrounds, fully embodying the theme of "Seeking Unity Across Lands and Seas." Charuka Ekanayake from St. Anthony’s College in Sri Lanka vividly portrayed his hometown of Kandy—an ancient city nestled in the central highlands—in his essay. He wrote: "Nestled in the central hills of Sri Lanka, Kandy is a city of history and culture. It also serves as a canvas filled with shades of tradition, nature, and spirituality. Every corner of this town is alive with colours that tell stories of the past and breathe life into the present." Meanwhile, Katie Cheyenne Piller, a sophomore at the University of Central Lancashire in the UK, expressed her strong interest in exploring historical narratives through a video submission. "I really enjoy China and Chinese cinema, and I look forward to the opportunity to visit China in the future," she said.

The 2025 global recruitment of Land-Sea International Youth Envoys is not only a call for submissions, but also an effort to build a long-term, in-depth, and systematic international youth exchange platform. By encouraging cultural creation, the program fosters mutual learning between civilizations and invites young people to tell their local stories from their own perspectives, thereby enhancing mutual understanding among youth from different countries.

At present, all submitted works are gradually entering entered the expert review stage. Entries will be evaluated by an expert panel based on four criteria: content quality, language expression, creativity and influence, and additional merits. No more than 1000 participants will ultimately be awarded the title of "Land-Sea International Youth Envoy," along with an official certificate. Selected Envoys will also gain exclusive opportunities to participate in online cross-cultural dialogues and the annual conference to be held later this year. These events will continue to encourage youth to engage in global dialogue and cooperation, providing them with broader platforms for growth.
