-- Other Vision Studios, the production studio founded by writer-director Collins Abbott White, is celebrating its 15th anniversary. The milestone marks more than a decade of creating narrative films, documentaries, music videos, and brand films shaped by White’s experience as a filmmaker focused on purposeful storytelling.
White founded Other Vision Studios in 2011 after developing his foundation in directing, cinematography, and editing. While his career has centered on narrative filmmaking, including feature films and original projects, he built the studio as a space where that same filmmaking discipline could extend to collaborations with brands, artists, and organizations. The studio’s work reflects a belief that every project begins with understanding its core message and finding the most effective way to express it visually.
Over the past 15 years, White has directed two independent narrative features, multiple short and documentary films, and contributed as a director of photography across multiple productions. His background behind the camera has shaped his directing philosophy, with a focus on using composition, movement, sound, and performance to support the emotional purpose of each scene.

“I’ve always viewed filmmaking as an exercise in understanding people,” White shares. “The technology and techniques are important, but they are all there to serve the connection between the audience and the story. If that connection is missing, the images alone are not enough.”
That perspective has guided Other Vision Studios as it expanded into cinematic brand films and commercial storytelling. Rather than approaching branded projects as a separate creative category, White applies the same principles developed through narrative filmmaking to help organizations communicate who they are, what they value, and why their work matters.
For White, the strongest collaborations happen when brands move beyond simply presenting information and instead explore the human elements behind their work. By drawing from narrative filmmaking practices, including character development, visual structure, and emotional pacing, Other Vision Studios creates films designed to communicate an idea through a more complete storytelling experience.
“The difference between a video that explains something and a film that connects with someone often comes down to whether there is a story at the center,” White states. “Our role is to find that story, understand why it matters, and build the creative decisions around it.” This philosophy continues to shape White’s work across both original and commissioned projects.
While Other Vision Studios supports brands and artists through visual storytelling, White remains focused on developing his own narrative films. His current projects include the psychological horror-thriller feature “The Door Creaks,” which is in development and continues his exploration of character-driven storytelling.
Alongside his filmmaking work, White has also followed the evolving role of artificial intelligence within the creative process. His perspective comes from his position as a director navigating new tools while maintaining the importance of human authorship in filmmaking. He views AI as a resource that can assist with experimentation, workflow improvements, and creative exploration, while the artistic decisions that shape a finished film remain rooted in human judgment.

As AI-generated media becomes more accessible, White believes that creative intention and personal perspective will continue to play an important role in defining meaningful work. For him, the value of filmmaking lies not only in producing an image but in understanding why that image exists, how it supports a larger narrative, and what emotional response it is intended to create.
“New tools have always influenced how filmmakers work, and AI is part of that ongoing evolution,” White explains. “The opportunity is to use technology thoughtfully while protecting the parts of filmmaking that come from human experience, collaboration, and a filmmaker’s individual point of view.”
As Other Vision Studios enters its next chapter, White continues balancing his work as a feature film director with the studio’s broader storytelling efforts. The company’s journey reflects an ongoing commitment to creating films across formats while maintaining the same foundation that shaped its beginning: a focus on meaningful ideas, deliberate creative choices, and stories developed intentionally.
