New Frontier Immigration Law announced a nationwide initiative to help recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program secure U.S. permanent residency through employment-based petitions and self-petitions. The effort focuses on highly educated and high-earning DACA professionals, particularly those in science, technology, engineering, medicine, and other high-demand industries.

Approximately 530,000 individuals currently hold DACA status, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). While DACA provides work authorization and protection from deportation, it does not directly lead to a green card. Many recipients have spent years contributing to the U.S. workforce without a clear path to permanent residency.
The new campaign highlights two primary routes for DACA recipients: national interest waivers, which allow certain professionals to self-petition for permanent residency based on work that benefits the United States, and employer-sponsored petitions for high-demand positions. These options are particularly relevant to professionals such as registered nurses, physical therapists, physicians in residency, robotics engineers, and entrepreneurs whose work supports key sectors of the U.S. economy.
Hillary Walsh, founder and attorney at New Frontier Immigration Law, said the initiative reflects over a decade of observing how DACA recipients have built successful careers while remaining in temporary legal status. “I graduated law school the same year DACA was introduced,” Walsh said. “For more than ten years, I’ve seen talented professionals make significant contributions without the long-term security that permanent residency provides. Our national effort is designed to connect these individuals with the legal pathways that already exist under U.S. law.”
Walsh added that the campaign also includes outreach to employers. “Employers often don’t realize that sponsoring a DACA employee for permanent residency can be a straightforward and cost-effective way to retain top talent,” she said. “We are providing resources to help companies understand and navigate the process of filing a permanent labor certification and supporting their employees’ applications.”
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects strong demand for healthcare professionals and engineers through 2030. With more than three-quarters of DACA recipients currently employed, according to the Migration Policy Institute, this initiative aims to address both the professional aspirations of DACA holders and the country’s workforce needs.
The campaign will feature educational resources on New Frontier Immigration Law’s website and social media channels, including Walsh’s TikTok platform, where she regularly answers questions from DACA recipients about employment-based green card options. Walsh is also completing a book detailing step-by-step guidance for DACA professionals seeking permanent residency.
New Frontier Immigration Law’s national effort comes amid continuing legal uncertainty surrounding DACA. While the program remains in effect for current recipients, ongoing litigation and the absence of permanent legislative solutions have increased the urgency for many to pursue more stable forms of legal status.
