Movement Health Foundation, a Swiss non-profit organization, is disrupting global healthcare delivery through an innovative approach that combines digital solutions with local engagement. The foundation has established a strong presence across Latin America, Africa, and Europe, focusing on improving access to cancer and cardiovascular disease care in underserved communities.

Through strategic partnerships with global healthcare leaders Microsoft, Siemens Healthineers, Roche, and the Copenhagen Institute for Future Studies, Movement Health Foundation has developed a comprehensive ecosystem that addresses critical healthcare challenges. Each founding partner brings unique expertise: Microsoft's digital and AI capabilities, Siemens Healthineers' innovative diagnostics, Roche's biotechnology solutions, and CIFS's data-driven insights for future healthcare needs. Currently scaling eight digital health solutions in 2024, the foundation aims to expand its impact to 19 projects in 2025 with the support of new partners. Their approach has already yielded remarkable results: participating healthcare institutions in Colombia achieved a 50% reduction in care and maintenance costs during pilot implementation, while in South Africa, the foundation has enhanced access to cervical cancer screening through an innovative Progressive Web App that provides vital cancer information and screening access to women in multiple languages.

"We're not just funding healthcare solutions—we're bringing drastic changes in how healthcare is delivered in emerging markets," says Héctor Pourtalé, executive director at Movement Health Foundation. "Our success stems from combining technological innovation with deep local engagement and partnerships."

The foundation's flagship projects demonstrate the effectiveness of its tech-integrated approach. In Colombia, its Salud 360 initiative has helped identify and manage cardiovascular risks for over 2,100 patients while reducing associated healthcare costs by 20.5%. In Ghana, Movement Health Foundation's collaboration with the National e-Pharmacy Platform (NEPP) is transforming community pharmacies into data-driven healthcare hubs, with plans to reach 4,000 pharmacies by 2025. This partnership enhances hypertension screening and referral processes, creating more accessible healthcare touchpoints within communities.

In South Africa, the foundation is tackling cervical cancer screening through a progressive web app (PWA) that provides vital cancer information and screening access to women in multiple languages. This initiative directly addresses the country's challenge, where cervical cancer ranks as the second most common cancer among women but claims the highest number of cancer-related deaths.

"The challenge of tackling the world's greatest health issues cannot be solved by one organization alone," adds Pourtalé. "Through Movement Health Foundation's inclusive partnership approach, we're aiming to make a real difference globally."

Movement Health Foundation's methodology ensures sustainable healthcare solutions through deep collaboration with local partners and a long-term vision for impact. By fostering partnerships between healthcare providers, governments, and technology leaders while designing solutions with scalability in mind from the start, the foundation creates lasting change in healthcare systems. This approach has led to significant improvements in maternal and child health services in Peru, including a 14% increase in nutritional supplementation for infants and enhanced prenatal care access.
