-- Moses Mwingizi has been named a recipient of a 2026 Global Recognition Award, an honor that acknowledges his decade-long rise through East and Southern Africa's logistics sector, where he built operational structures that continue to shape the region's freight and export industry. The distinction recognizes his work mentoring teams and driving measurable growth at some of the region's largest freight and export operations. It places him among a select group of professionals whose contributions have been assessed on a global, comparable scale. His career includes roles at Alistair Group, Dianarose Logistics, Bolloré Logistics, and Kuehne+Nagel, and he currently serves as general manager at C. Steinweg Bridge Group.

At C. Steinweg, Mwingizi oversees terminal operations that export more than 100,000 metric tons of copper each month, a volume that reflects the scale of responsibility he now carries after a career built through steady advancement. His movement from a junior insurance position to a group-level executive role within ten years reflects a pattern of discipline, integrity, and mentorship, and colleagues describe these traits as central to his management style. Industry observers note that such rapid progression is rare in African logistics, particularly when paired with the safety and retention outcomes he has consistently produced.
Leadership Rooted in Systems and People
Mwingizi's approach to management centers on continuous improvement, technology adoption, and team cohesion, and he has applied these principles consistently even as his responsibilities have expanded well beyond his original role. At Alistair Group, he managed more than 1,000 employees, both white- and blue-collar, and a fleet of more than 500 trucks, both owned and subcontracted across 6 countries (Tanzania, Zambia, DRC, South Africa, Namibia and Mozambique) running specilized cargo, out of gauge loads, consolidation and hazardous products long and short hauls for various projects, while running weekly technology reviews that drove automation in order processing and cargo tracking. He also pioneered and drove a one-day border-crossing protocol that improved truck turnaround by 1.5 movements per month, yielding a substantial financial return for the company.
His approach to ethical decision-making became most apparent at Dianarose Logistics, where he restructured a fleet operation strained by the pandemic and struggling to maintain basic continuity. Mwingizi divided oversight of 100 trucks into manageable teams of 33, and he built succession plans to prevent disruption if a manager fell ill or resigned unexpectedly. He brought in a qualified safety officer and pursued internationally recognized safety certification, choices that prioritized worker welfare over short-term savings. "Every decision I make is measured against whether it protects the people doing the work, not just the numbers on a report," Mwingizi said.
Building and Improving Systems Across Borders
Mwingizi's contribution to operational improvement is evident in the systems he has built, not simply in the tools he has adopted, and this distinction reflects sustained effort over time rather than a single investment. At C. Steinweg, he drove full use of the bridge operating system. This digital platform had existed but gone largely unused before his arrival, and he ensured it captured precise data on tonnage, handling times, and cargo quality from receipt through dispatch. Under his direction, the terminal's throughput rose from 20,000 to 100,000 metric tons per month, and shift productivity climbed from 30 to 100 moves per shift, reshaping the facility's standing among regional peers. Furthermore, manages other products that run through Dar es Salaam port via C. Steinweg, such as 3T minerals, coffee, cotton, tobacco, and many others, not only to serve clients but also to serve the global market well via the efficient logistics infrastructure he manages in the Tanzania entity.
He also drove utilization of the Mbombela rail initiative with C.Steinweg terminals through efficiency improvements, moving copper from the Ndola facility to Dar es Salaam and easing congestion at C.Steinweg terminals into the port; this approach was later cited as a model elsewhere in the industry. His management style has delivered a 99 percent retention rate through team-building activities ranging from football to pottery, and this outcome points to contributions that extend beyond machinery into workplace culture. "A terminal is only as strong as the people who show up to run it every day, and keeping them engaged matters as much as the equipment," Mwingizi said. Applicants for a 2026 Global Recognition Award are evaluated using the Rasch model, a statistical framework that places candidates from different fields on a single comparable scale.
Final Words
"Moses Mwingizi represents the kind of leadership that changes an entire operation rather than just managing it," said Alex Sterling, a spokesperson for Global Recognition Awards, and Sterling noted that Mwingizi's combination of technological adoption, ethical management, and mentorship of younger professionals made him a clear fit for recognition this year. "Few professionals in African logistics have moved from junior fleet assistant to group-level executive while maintaining the retention rates and safety records he has achieved," Sterling said, and this remark underscores the rarity of a career built on consistent structural improvement rather than isolated achievements.
Mwingizi has trained managers who continue to run the operations he once led, and he consistently chose long-term structural fixes over short-term patches, even when the latter would have been easier. He has said his goal now is to inspire other young African professionals, and he argues that persistence, rather than privilege, determines how far anyone can go in a career. "My story started in a humble background, and if it shows anything, it's that steady effort over years can shift outcomes far beyond your own position," Mwingizi said.
