-- Melissa Atwell, Founder & CEO of The Mental Health Moment, was presented with the “Excellence In Healthcare Award” at the Health 2.0 Conference. The three-day health conference was held from April 7–9, 2026, at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, USA. The recognition acknowledges individuals contributing to meaningful change in healthcare through advocacy, lived experience, and community impact.

Melissa Atwell, a Las Vegas native, is a mental health advocate whose journey into this space is deeply personal. In 2022, she founded The Mental Health Moment, a non-profit organization dedicated to reminding individuals that they are not alone in their struggles. With over a decade of non-profit experience and a degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Melissa combines her professional background with her lived experience to create spaces centered on connection, compassion, and awareness.
Her work is inspired by her family, including her husband of 13 years and their two daughters, and is guided by a simple yet impactful message: “Take A Moment For Your Mental Health.” Through her efforts, she continues to encourage open conversations and promote accessible support for those navigating their own journeys.
Responding to the honor, Melissa shared, “I am deeply honored and I receive this fully — not just for myself but for every person in Las Vegas and beyond who has ever felt alone in their mental health journey. This is what happens when you lead by action and example and refuse to let your community go without the support they deserve. We are just getting started. Keep going, YOU matter!”
This recognition highlighted the importance of lived experience in shaping meaningful mental health advocacy and support systems. Melissa’s ongoing efforts continue to focus on building awareness, reducing stigma, and creating spaces where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported.
