With a vision to foster an inclusive community, HoloAsh have launched a brand new app offering a social environment where individuals with diverse backgrounds can flourish, all the while recognising and addressing the profound influence of social media on the mental health of teenagers.

Described as FaceTime meets BeReal, weCall offers a platform for young people and adults to video call whilst experiencing real life. The app allows users to experience double perspective video calling using both the front and back camera, meaning you can experience real life in real time with long distance friends.

The app was launched with users self esteem and mental health in mind, CEO at HoloAsh, Yoshua Kisihi notes: “It is common for people to compare themselves to others on social media. This can be dangerous, as it can lead to feelings of inadequacy or low self-esteem. We want people to cherish friendship rather than chase after followers.

"We encourage people to share their authentic selves, real time real life real you. ”

Non-profit charity, Common Sense, found that teens (13- to 18-year-olds) now spend nearly an hour and a half a day using social media but have conflicted feelings about the medium.

Further to this, recent research by the US Department of Health and Human Services shows that adolescents who spend more than three hours per day on social media face double the risk of experiencing poor mental health outcomes, such as symptoms of depression and anxiety.

This is why the team at HoloAsh have such a strong focus on their features and ensuring the social app that is used by teenagers is a safe space.

weCall offers a range of features such as:

  • Double perspective video call using front and back camera
  • Share memorable moments together with friends and family
  • Watch party features to enjoy your favourite shows with friends.
