Dr. Rappaport's career trajectory showcases her adaptability and diverse interests. Initially focused on academia, she transitioned into establishing her first small business, Policy Research Methods Incorporated in 1986. She became an expert in minority health and this focus resulted in a book, “Capital Crime; Black Infant Mortality in America,” in 1989.

She leveraged her knowledge of health care and, from 1975 to 2005, served as a contractual consultant in Washington, DC, specializing in minority health issues. An important moment in her career was a public service science residency from the National Science Foundation at DC General Hospital. There, she conducted research on low birthweight rates among disadvantaged Black women, leading to her most cited article, "Social and Cultural Factors in the Etiology of Low Birthweight among Disadvantaged Blacks," in 1985.

Her academic career included 15 years of teaching and lecturing at the college level, including institutions such as Georgetown University and George Washington University.

She established her second small business as The Human Sentience Project LLC, which was co-founded with Christopher Corbally, S.J.  From 2014 to the present, they have written books and articles and delivered speeches in America and Europe. Their focus has been on human cognitive evolution, especially the origins of religion and morality on the human line.

The co-founders’ respective fields of anthropology and astronomy come together well in space policy and the space sciences. Their current projects reflect the intersection of technology, ecology and spirituality, especially in off-Earth space settlement. They have authored numerous articles and books, including "Space Science and Astronomy Theatre," published in 2017, and "The Emergence of Religion in Human Evolution,” published in 2021.

In recent years, Dr. Rappaport has turned her attention to artificial intelligence, exploring its implications for human decision-making, as well as energy sufficiency. "As intelligent machines evolve, we must understand the energy demands and ethical considerations of AI," she emphasizes. Dr. Rappaport's work extends beyond AI to neuroscience, eco-theology, and lunar and space sciences.

"To succeed in any field, you must be a risk-taker," Dr. Rappaport advises. "Trust your instincts and values, even when faced with skepticism."

As a recognized leader in her field, Dr. Rappaport believes fostering connections among women in science is essential for future advancements. "I hope to encourage the next generation of women scientists to explore the intersections of science and spirituality," she added.

With a rich history of contributions to anthropology, health sciences and now AI, Dr. Rappaport resonates across disciplines, inspiring future generations to push the boundaries of knowledge and understanding.
