A — local South Miami pharmacy has taken the community by storm. Mrs. Elaine Cuervo of Sunset Drugs has raised the bar for pharmacies in South Florida. She has transformed the traditional pharmacy atmosphere from prescription refills, over-the- counter items, and compounded services, into a unique boutique experience focused on the busy consumer.
What makes the pharmacy different is the boutique section. The boutique allows Sunset Drugs to expand and be more of a high-end pharmacy, both in the products they carry, and the services they offer. The boutique carries some of the best skin care, mineral cosmetics, and distinctive gifts for the home. In addition a professional make-up artist is on staff ready to assist their customers with makeup choices and skin care needs.
A Study in Forbes found that shoppers would rather have a brick-and-mortar store experience over an online one. One of the most eye-opening findings of the study is “Ninety percent of shoppers surveyed would prefer to buy in a brick-and-mortar store across demographic and age groups… They love going out, shopping with people and touching stuff.”
Mrs. Cuervo understands the need we all have to see, feel and touch items and is satisfying this need with her hand-picked products.Sunset Drugs offers many familiar products for shoppers of retail stores like Neiman Marcus. However, they also offer many quality organic and natural products that may not be known by the public and they are more than willing to educate their customers about. An example is their all-natural and organic lice removal product for kids, or the superb and hard to find natural nail hardening system.
A focal point in the Sunset Drug’s boutique is the exclusive line of mineral makeup they carry from Jane Iredale. After going through a rigorous process, the Jane Iredale company granted Mrs. Cuervo the approval to offer the natural line of cosmetics to her customers.
The decision made to carry the best came from a personal philosophy rather than a monetary focus. “I am a mother and that, I find, just overlaps everywhere in my life.” Cuervo said. “My children drive a lot of my decision making concerning products in the store, so why not offer other alternatives? Since we are right next to a large pediatric practice, we deal with a lot of parents. I think people are more knowledgeable about what they’re putting on their face or their bodies and they want more options. We want to give it to them.”
Thanks to Elaine Cuervo, in a world full of rushed agendas and time-consuming chores, the South Miami area has a local pharmacy where customers can visit, get a prescription filled, leave with much more than aspirin and get a little pampered as well.
