-- JJ Velazquez, Founder & CEO of MONUMENTAL MEDIA, was recognized at the CXO 2.0 Conference with the “Business Leadership Excellence Award.” The prestigious business leadership event was held from April 7–9, 2026, at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, convening founders, senior executives, policymakers, and innovators shaping the future of global enterprise and organizational leadership.
JJ Velazquez is the Founder & CEO of MONUMENTAL MEDIA, a mission-driven creative agency and talent incubator that uplifts voices, promotes equity, and uses storytelling as a catalyst for social change. JJ is an Activist and Actor in the Oscar-nominated film, ‘SING SING,’ the focus of the Emmy-winning NBC News Studios docuseries, ‘THE SING SING CHRONICLES,’ Pulitzer finalist podcast, ‘LETTERS FROM SING SING,’ and the book, “THE SING SING FILES.”
Upon release through executive clemency in 2021, he met with President Biden at the White House to discuss justice reform. In 2024, he was exonerated after a 27-year battle against a wrongful conviction. JJ continues to champion activism through art, media, and education.
After receiving the award, JJ Velazquez remarked, “For someone who served 24 years in prison for a crime I didn’t commit, to be received this way by the world and the universe means a lot. Because for over two decades, people thought that I was a murderer and they didn’t see my humanity. So this isn't just about me, it’s about capturing stories and creating impact for those who need to be heard–that’s why we tell those stories.”
