Currently a third-year law student at the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce Law School, Jeanelle is also the Founder and Director of Lawyers With Melanin®, Inc., a Massachusetts-based, registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit she launched to uplift and empower prospective and current law students, recent law school graduates, and practicing lawyers of color. From Adversity to Advocacy: How Jeanelle Angus Turned Personal Challenges Into Purpose
When Jeanelle Angus founded Lawyers With Melanin in March 2022, she did so from a place of pain, purpose, and perseverance. Losing two family members to COVID-19 while beginning law school, Jeanelle faced profound personal and academic obstacles. Yet instead of backing down, she channeled her experience into building a nonprofit rooted in justice and emotional resilience for aspiring lawyers of color.

About Jeanelle Angus, MPA
As a first-generation Caribbean law student, Jeanelle Angus was raised in West Palm Beach, Florida, and is now based in Massachusetts. She is currently in her third year at the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce Law School. With degrees from Palm Beach State College, Florida Atlantic University, and Northeastern University, Jeanelle has combined policy, activism, and education into a mission of justice and transformation. She hopes to one day own her own firm and become a judge.
