-- JBL High Performance Expands Its Approach to Leadership Isolation
JBL High Performance has announced The Room, a private working session for founders, owners, presidents, and COOs designed to address an often overlooked challenge at the highest levels of business leadership: isolation.

The event, scheduled for November 6 and 7, 2026, at The Westin Dallas Stonebriar Golf Resort and Spa in Frisco, Texas, extends JBL High Performance's work on leadership friction into a confidential peer environment. Attendance will be limited to 12 leaders from North Texas businesses with annual revenues between $25 million and $75 million, with one company represented from each industry.
The announcement reflects a problem that JBL High Performance founder Jimmy Burroughes has observed throughout his career. As leaders move higher within an organisation, the number of people with whom they can openly discuss difficult decisions can become smaller.
Teams need confidence, boards expect answers, and employees often look to senior leadership for certainty. Even outside the workplace, the full context behind consequential business decisions can be difficult to communicate. As a result, some of the questions carrying the greatest organisational consequences can remain inside the leader's head.
For JBL High Performance, that isolation is not solely an emotional consequence of senior leadership. It can also become an operational issue.
When Leadership Responsibility Becomes Concentrated
Burroughes developed his perspective on leadership under pressure as a British Army officer and later as a corporate general manager before founding JBL High Performance Limited in 2017.
He observed that capable leaders often struggle not because of limited experience, but because responsibility becomes concentrated around them. JBL High Performance describes this as leadership friction, including duplicated approvals, unnecessary escalations, unclear ownership, and excessive meetings.
The company reports that removing this friction helps managers reclaim around four hours each week, while 40 percent more decisions are made at the appropriate level.
For senior executives, however, delegation addresses only part of the challenge. As leaders rise, opportunities to discuss difficult decisions candidly can become increasingly limited, particularly when internal conversations may affect careers, confidence, or perceptions of leadership.
Removing Leadership Friction Without Adding More Noise
JBL High Performance's Simplify to Amplify methodology focuses on removing organisational friction rather than adding more leadership theory. It helps leaders clarify priorities, establish operating rhythms that work under pressure, and develop people who can take genuine ownership of decisions.
The approach addresses a cycle in which limited delegation pushes more decisions toward senior leaders, reducing their time to think and making organisations increasingly dependent on senior intervention.
JBL High Performance seeks to interrupt this cycle by improving how responsibility and decisions move through an organisation. The company reports nearly 3,500 manager transformations across more than 30 organisations and 10 countries, while its Leadership Friction Report states that programme sponsors give its work an average score of 8.75 out of 10 when asked whether they would sponsor another engagement.
Creating a Confidential Peer Environment for Senior Leaders
The Room extends this approach beyond the traditional organisational environment.
Burroughes and senior people leader Seth McColley will host the November session for founders, owners, presidents, and COOs of qualifying North Texas businesses.
Rather than following a conventional conference format, participants will arrive with an existing business issue rather than a presentation. Sessions will be confidential and will not be recorded.
The discussions are designed around issues that senior leaders may find difficult to examine openly within their own organisations. These include senior hiring decisions, developing a trusted second in command, balancing growth and cash, protecting what has already been built, applying artificial intelligence, and developing an organisation capable of operating without constant dependence on its founder or chief executive.
The structure addresses a particular contradiction of senior leadership: an executive can spend each day surrounded by employees, advisers, customers, and stakeholders while still having relatively few peers with whom difficult questions can be discussed candidly.
Each participant in The Room will work alongside 11 other leaders who have no reporting relationship to them and no organisational interest in preserving a particular answer.
Participants are expected to leave the session with a written 90 day plan as well as a peer group that can remain connected following the event.
A Different Question About Leadership Development
Leadership development has traditionally focused heavily on what leaders need to learn. JBL High Performance's approach also considers what capable leaders need around them to make effective decisions and maintain organisational performance.
In some organisations, that can mean clearer decision ownership, fewer unnecessary meetings, or stronger delegation. At senior levels, it can also mean creating an appropriate environment where leaders can examine decisions without being required to continuously project certainty.
That principle connects The Room with JBL High Performance's broader work on leadership friction. Both focus on removing obstacles that consume leadership capacity rather than adding additional demands to already stretched executives.
The November gathering provides a practical application of that philosophy. Instead of relying on keynote presentations or general leadership theory, the format centres on confidential discussion of existing business issues and the actions leaders can take afterward.
For founders and senior operators who recognise the experience of carrying consequential decisions with limited opportunities for candid peer discussion, information about eligibility, the event format, and the November programme is available through JBL High Performance's The Room at jblhighperformance.com/roundtable.
