-- Mariko Morimoto, Founder of SORA AI Education and President of SORA LLC (Japan), was invited as a speaker at the UN- and UNESCO-endorsed international summit "INK TO IMPACT 2026," held on March 27–28 at the Baha'i Academy in Panchgani, Maharashtra.

The summit, themed "Driving Dialogue for Sustainable and Resilient Communities," was jointly organized by the Global Shapers Community Kolhapur — an initiative of the World Economic Forum — and the Baha'i Academy, a recognized institution of Shivaji University. The event brought together academicians, policy makers, technology leaders, and social impact practitioners from across the globe.

【"AI as a Thinking Partner" — The Power of Dialogue Across Generations】
Morimoto delivered a session titled "AI as a Thinking Partner: How Parent-Child Dialogue Can Break Cycles and Build Futures," presenting research-backed insights on how artificial intelligence can transform family education and support women's economic empowerment across generations.
In her address, Morimoto drew on research by Yale University professors Catherine Panter-Brick and James Leckman, whose studies on three generations of Syrian refugee families revealed that DNA changes linked to violence appeared even in grandchildren who never experienced the violence directly. Morimoto presented the powerful counter-argument: if negative experiences can be transmitted across generations, then positive dialogue and safe relationships may also be passed down.
"If negative experiences can leave marks that continue across generations, then I believe the opposite is also true," Morimoto told the summit audience. "The joy of discovery, the feeling of 'I can do this' — these too can be passed on to the next generation through everyday conversations."
She also referenced the landmark "Hole in the Wall" experiment conducted by Professor Sugata Mitra in New Delhi in 1999, as well as UNESCO's 2025 report on AI and education, which argues that AI should function not as a vending machine for answers but as a partner that cultivates independent thinking. Morimoto described AI as a "digital Granny Cloud" — available around the clock to support every child's curiosity, regardless of a parent's time constraints.

【From Stay-at-Home Mother to International AI Educator】

Morimoto's journey is one of personal transformation. After spending years as a stay-at-home mother in Japan, she had lost confidence in her own value. But when she learned to use AI, she started her own business and became financially independent. She has since built SORA AI Education, which has reached over 2,000 parents and children in just two years.
She serves as the lead AI instructor for KADOKAWA — one of Japan's largest publishing houses — and will publish a practical guide to parent-child AI education with KADOKAWA in 2026. A licensed tax accountant and AI consultant who graduated from Waseda University's Faculty of Political Science and Economics, Morimoto also serves as a Hiroshima Tourism Ambassador.
Her work directly addresses SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), with a particular focus on the "motherhood penalty" in workforce participation. Citing UN Women data showing significantly lower labor force participation among mothers of young children worldwide, Morimoto demonstrated that AI literacy can serve as a practical pathway to economic independence for women.

【Japan-India AI Education MOU Signed — 10 to 50 Hours of AI Courses to Be Delivered】
At the summit, Morimoto signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of SORA AI Education with the Baha'i Academy, Panchgani, and the Global Shapers Community, Kolhapur Hub.
Under the MOU, SORA AI Education will provide 10 to 50 hours of online AI courses to students and educators at the Baha'i Academy. The collaboration aims to develop research-based educational modules relevant to students in both Japan and India, with a focus on participatory pedagogy and service-learning. The service-learning activities and community projects will be supported by the World Economic Forum through the Global Shapers Community, promoting the Sustainable Development Goals at the local level.

【INK TO IMPACT — From Words to Action: Indian Students to Exhibit AI Art in Hiroshima】
True to the summit's name "INK TO IMPACT," Morimoto wasted no time turning dialogue into tangible action at the individual level.
As Hiroshima Tourism Ambassador, Morimoto invited Indian students to participate as AI artists in an AI Art Exhibition she is organizing in Hiroshima, to be held alongside the Hiroshima Rose Festival. All 10 available spots were filled immediately. The selected students will receive free AI art training from Morimoto, and their works will be exhibited in Hiroshima, Japan, for one month.
A keynote at an international summit transforming instantly into a concrete Japan-India cultural exchange project — this was the very embodiment of "INK TO IMPACT," turning vision into real-world practice.

【Beyond AI — Expanding Japan-India Ties Through Sustainable Tourism】
The summit also opened new avenues for cross-border collaboration in sustainable tourism. Swaaha Resource Management Private Limited — a prominent Indian sustainability enterprise that has overseen the transformation of over 100 municipalities under India's Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, spoken at COP28 and COP29, and been recognized at the ET Global Smart Cities Forum — proposed an MOU with Morimoto to develop tourism initiatives connecting India and Japan.
As Hiroshima Tourism Ambassador, Morimoto views this as a natural extension of her mission to strengthen cultural and educational bridges between the two countries.
"What began as an AI education summit has grown into something much larger," said Morimoto. "The connections formed here in India are opening doors to tourism, cultural exchange, and sustainable development partnerships that I never imagined."

【Looking Ahead — Invitation to AI Conference in India】
Morimoto has also been invited to participate as an AI consultant at an upcoming AI conference in India organized by the Baha'i Academy, further cementing the growing Japan-India partnership in AI education.
