-- Inaugural Hong Kong International Nuclear Medicine Innovation Summit Successfully Held ——Building a Collaborative Ecosystem for Innovation and Development in Nuclear Medicine

HONG KONG, June 12, 2026 — The inaugural Hong Kong International Nuclear Medicine Innovation Summit (the “Summit”) was held at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The event brought together over 100 distinguished guests, including representatives from the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau of the HKSAR Government and the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES); scholars from Tsinghua University, The University of Hong Kong, PolyU, the University of Geneva, Seoul National University, and Hong Kong Institute of Science & Innovation, Chinese Academy of Sciences; clinical experts from Wuhan Union Hospital, Tongji Hospital, Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, Hong Kong Baptist Hospital, and Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital; as well as representatives of nuclear medicine associations and industry leaders. Centered around three core themes—"Theranostics, Translational Innovation, and Global Synergy"—the Summit explored cutting-edge technologies and emerging trends in the global nuclear medicine industry. Several landmark collaborations among industry, academia, and research institutions were also unveiled during the event.

Driving Innovation Through Academic Leadership

Professor Jin-Guang Teng, President of the PolyU, and Dr. Hon David Lam, Member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (Medical and Health Services Functional Constituency), delivered the opening remarks.

A major highlight of the Summit was the official establishment of the Hong Kong Society of Nuclear Medicine. Guided by its mission of serving the industry and benefiting society, the Society will contribute to the goals outlined in China's 15th Five-Year Plan. Leveraging Hong Kong's unique position as an international hub, the Society aims to establish a leading platform for academic exchange and healthcare innovation, facilitating both the introduction of advanced global technologies to China and the international expansion of Chinese nuclear medicine enterprises.

Global Insights and Shared Opportunities

During the main forum, renowned experts presented the latest technological advances and shared insights into the global nuclear medicine innovation landscape, the impact of artificial intelligence, regional industry developments, and emerging market opportunities in China. Keynote speakers included:

Professor Habib Zaidi, Head of the PET Instrumentation and Neuroimaging Laboratory at Geneva University Hospital (HUG);

Dr Frankie Choi, Consultant In-charge of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital;

Professor Lan Xiaoli, Standing Committee Member and Secretary-General of the Nuclear Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Wuhan Union Hospital, Huazhong University of Science and Technology; and

Professor Wang Jianlong of the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology, Tsinghua University.

Industry Standards and Ecosystem Development

The group standard Technical Requirements for Medical Isotope Actinium-225 (T/CAMT 56—2026) was officially released at the Summit. Representing the first industry specification of its kind in China, the standard was jointly developed by leading universities, research institutes, and industry partners. China is accelerating the large-scale production of Actinium-225 (Ac-225) to reduce reliance on imported high-end medical isotopes. The newly released standard provides technical guidance for the production, quality control, transportation, and storage of medical Actinium-225 (Ac-225), advancing industry standardization and facilitating its transition from research to clinical application.

The Summit also marked significant milestones in industry collaboration. The official establishment of China Beamtech Limited was announced at the event. The company will focus on the research and development of nuclear medicine equipment and the large-scale production of isotopes. Leveraging its proprietary technologies and industrial resources, China Beamtech aims to support innovation and sustainable growth in the global nuclear medicine industry. Furthermore, PanMediso and AuthenMetric signed a strategic partnership agreement to advance collaboration in AI-driven nuclear medicine R&D.

As an important platform connecting policy, innovation, and industry, the inaugural Hong Kong International Nuclear Medicine Innovation Summit concluded successfully. By bringing together leading experts, healthcare institutions, research organizations, and industry representatives from around the world, the Summit will help create new opportunities for scientific innovation, clinical translation, and international collaboration in nuclear medicine, benefiting both Hong Kong and China's broader nuclear medicine sector.
