-- With many people in the community confined to their homes for health and safety reasons during this COVID-19 crisis, Haven Cannabis Dispensary Long beach has stepped up to help those in need in their community. Haven dispensary is committed to serving their community, and helping others. Johnnie Hernandez, head of retail for Haven, says, “We live here. We work here. These are our friends and neighbors.” Their concern and love for their community shows in their efforts to help those in need during this time of crisis. And that is how the creation of Haven’s “COVID kits” came about. As business members of the community themselves, they wanted to make sure no one went without some essential items during this pandemic, and shelter in place.
Each “COVID kit” contains non-perishable food items, and sanitizing items, such as hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and paper towels. Donated items were properly handled and sanitized, then kept in a secure, climate-controlled environment before distributing to ensure safety. Social platforms such as Facebook and Instagram were used to solicit donations to help fill the kits, and also to ask their customers to please let them know if they know of someone in need in the Long Beach community. Thankfully, due to the generous community, donations exceeded the needs received, and Councilwoman Stacy Mungo distributed the extra kits to individuals and families who were previously identified as in need. The kits were truly a success, helping everyone they could.
Johnnie Hernandez was touched by the generosity of the Long Beach community, saying, “So many people stepped up: our customers, our team members, our elected officials, and the community itself. We truly are stronger together.” Haven dispensaries, considered to be the best cannabis dispensary by many, along with the Long Beach community, has proven that statement to be true. They believe in community and are willing to do their part to help everyone get through, when crisis hits.
