-- GWM’s Brazil plant in Iracemápolis, São Paulo, is set to start production in the coming days. As the company’s first fully localized manufacturing base in Latin America, the plant marks a major milestone in GWM’s global expansion and highlights Brazil’s growing strategic role in GWM’s global mobility business landscape.
Production readiness has been completed, and vehicles will soon begin rolling off the line. At a time when many global manufacturers are slowing expansion, GWM is taking a different path—embedding itself deeply into local ecosystems while continuing to scale globally.
Built on the site of a former Mercedes-Benz facility, the Brazil plant has been completely reimagined to suit the country’s unique industrial landscape and workforce needs. It has already achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification—an early testament to GWM’s ability to apply global quality standards in a locally relevant way.
Rather than a top-down approach, GWM is co-creating with Brazil. The company is working with SENAI and other local partners to develop talent programs and boost local procurement, aiming for 60% localization within three years. Key parts such as tires, seats, glass, and wiring harnesses are already being produced in-country. This will strengthen Brazil’s automotive supply chain and support future exports across Latin America.
The plant has already generated over 500 direct jobs, with more than 1,000 positions expected as operations scale. In a region previously affected by industrial withdrawal, the Brazil plant is helping to restore confidence, stability, and opportunity for hundreds of Brazilian families.
Public response has been overwhelmingly positive. Engineers are returning to the area, suppliers are expanding, and local drivers are actively sharing their experiences with GWM HAVAL H6 and GWM TANK 300 vehicles on social media. GWM isn’t simply expanding—it’s building emotional connection and cultural relevance.
This approach has also received strong recognition at the national level in Brazil. It is learned that Brazilian President Lula will attend the opening ceremony of GWM's plant in Iracemápolis, São Paulo on August 15. As early as May 12, during his visit to China, President Lula, when meeting with Jack Wey, the Chairman of GWM, clearly stated that Brazil needs China's technology to boost its own development, warmly welcomes GWM's long-term investment, and expects both sides to work together to promote the progress of Brazil's automotive industry. This fully demonstrates the emphasis on and support for GWM's development in Brazil.
Adhering to its strategy of “All Scenarios, All Powertrains, All Users”, GWM is set to launch a diverse lineup in Brazil that caters to local demand. The plant will produce models with various powertrains, including hybrid and diesel, offering diverse options to suit different travel scenarios. This approach reflects GWM’s commitment to providing tailored solutions for global markets through diversified power options.
The opening of the Brazil plant will come soon after GWM’s 35th anniversary—but the company’s vision is focused firmly ahead. As an important part of GWM’s global production network, the Brazil plant will serve as a regional hub for innovation, clean mobility, and inclusive growth throughout Latin America.
In Iracemápolis, GWM isn’t just building vehicles. It’s building futures—together.
