Gulf Coast Powder Coating was borne out of a need for a high-end refinishing shop in the area. Co-owners Brandon Segers and Stuart Wilson have operated Velocity Restorations, an award-winning classic car restoration and customization shop, for more than a decade. Professional-grade powder coating had always been an area they found lacking.
Owner Brandon Segers says, "At Velocity Restorations, our final product absolutely has to exceed our clients' expectations. We consistently found that our local market couldn't meet the same standards we expect. Like our paint shop, we decided that we'd probably need to establish our own powder coating division where we can not just do our own vehicles but provide the same high-quality finishing to residential and commercial clients too."
That's how Gulf Coast Powder Coating came to be. Segers and Wilson fitted their facility at 100 Myrick Street in Pensacola with state-of-the-art equipment and recruited an experienced team to execute their vision.
For the past 12 months, Gulf Coast Powder Coating has been plying their trade on Velocity's range of projects including resto-mod Early Ford Broncos and International Scout SUVs. From powder-coated frames and custom-designed bumpers to refinishing wheels in various colors, they've honed their craft into an art. Virtually any metal product can be refinished with the powder coating process.
"Gulf Coast Powder Coating offers a full range of refinishing products and services for both commercial and non-commercial clients. Our goal is to ensure customers have access to everything they need to complete their project of choice without the need to use multiple vendors. Thanks to this, we are now considered the premier Pensacola powder coating provider," Cody, spokesperson for Gulf Coast Powder Coating, explains.
With powder coating, durable finishes are applied in a range of colors for any type of product including automotive parts, industrial machinery, and any other items large or small. Sandblasting is carried out using media specifically designated for the client's item, and Gulf Coast Powder Coating safely removes pre-existing finishes in preparation for coating. Through a process known as chemical stripping, adhesives, paint, glue, epoxies, and other finishes can be stripped away safely by experienced professionals.
"Metal Repair is also offered. The repair of broken parts and correcting of defects prior to re-coating is done in-house by certified technicians through a variety of methods.
Additionally, wet primer coating is an option offered to customers, as finishing materials that must be applied wet are also available. Experts apply urethanes, enamels, epoxies, lacquers, and water-based paints in the Pensacola-based facility," Cody continues.
