Good enough to drink

-- Moolarben Coal has achieved second place in this year’s Water Industry Operations Association of Australia (WIOA) Best Tasting Tap Water Awards for NSW.

The judging was exceptionally close, with Rous County Council (Ballina) taking out the top honour, followed by Mudgee’s own Moolarben Coal in second place and ICON Water in third place.

This is the second time in three years that Moolarben Coal has been a finalist in these awards.

The best tasting tap water competition is a prestigious competition within the water industry, which is designed to be a bit of fun and recognise the front-line operators that are providing water services 24/7, 365 days a week.

Moolarben Coal General Manager, Tim Slater was proud to be placed among the top three drinking water providers in the state.

“The competition was hotly contested, and our team has worked very hard to consistently deliver highquality drinking water across the complex. This is testament to their dedication, expertise, and commitment.

“Achieving recognition at a state level against some of the industry’s leading water utilities is a significant accomplishment and reflects the pride we take in our operations and water quality management.

“To participate in this competition, you must be a water provider that provides water to a community, and the sample needs to be collected from a customer tap within the network. The water was then evaluated against a few criteria including colour, clarity, odour and taste.

“Congratulations to everyone involved as improving the water situation at Moolarben was a group effort across multiple departments. “We are proud that we are ensuring our people drink high-quality water every day,” said Tim.
