Justice-focused community leader Giovanne Schachere, founder of Mysti’s Adult and Family Services, has earned a Master’s in Human Services. Balancing parenthood and advocacy, Schachere hopes to inspire fellow nontraditional students and continues expanding critical social impact programs in California and Washington.

-- In an inspiring testament to perseverance and community-driven leadership, Giovanne Schachere—father of five, justice-involved advocate, and CEO of Mysti’s Adult and Family Services—has earned a Master’s degree in Human Services from Capella University. Schachere, a first-generation college graduate, continues to break new ground not only for himself but also for the populations he serves throughout California and Washington.

Schachere’s pathway has been far from conventional: after graduating from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles in 2005 and earning a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Central Washington University in 2015, he returned to college with the vision of equipping himself to lead systemic change. As the founder of Mysti’s Adult and Family Services, named in honor of his late mother, Schachere channels his lived experience into advocacy, overseeing the expansion of services like housing support, reentry programs, enhanced case management, and recuperative care for underserved communities. Under his leadership, Mysti’s recently extended operations into Monterey County and Contra Costa, deepening its impact on individuals and families too often overlooked.

Beyond executive direction, Schachere is recognized for organizing culturally grounded events and grassroots awards shows that celebrate resilience, local creativity, and community power. Balancing the demands of fatherhood and organizational growth, he serves as a living example of what is possible for nontraditional students and working parents who seek higher education as a tool for change.

Now, as he celebrates his latest academic accomplishment, Schachere is seeking consideration as a commencement speaker at Capella University’s September 2025 graduation in Arlington, Texas—aiming to encourage justice-impacted learners and working adults to persist and lead. “Commencement isn’t just a ceremony. It’s a call to remember who you are and what you overcame,” said Schachere.
